Three teams kicked off their three-day weekend with some TGIF gift cards and free appetizer coupons! The other two just came in to see my smiling face (not really, but that'd make me feel better).
Meeseeks and Destroy, Lieutenant Dan's Legs, and Tips Help Underpaid Restaurant Servers (THURS) were hungry for blood, with everyone correctly doubling down on one-syllable movies. But THURS jumped the gun by writing down the St. Louis Arch instead of the Space Needle, and had a double-down faux pas on FBS football teams, ultimately kicking them down to last place. Meeseeks and Destroy and Lieutenant Dan were cutting it close, but Meeseeks took the gold for knowing slightly more about weird science and "open" connections than Lieutenant Dan did. To add insult to injury, Meeseeks played a riveting game of High/Low and came out the big winners, earning free TGIF food for their next [guaranteed] visit.
Don't Suck made a solid comeback from the beginning of the game, also thinking the Space Needle was the Arch, BUT being the only team to have the courage to double-down on their weird science. They got the third place prize for their efforts.
The lone Brochacho got to kiss any chance of a free gift card or food goodbye, but he still got some good practice in on what to expect in the chance he might become King Trivia's newest Quizmaster! o:
It was NOT a good night for anything Elton John or James Spader-related, but everyone rocked their fairies and expensive cities (we'd know from experience!).
J.A. gave their first King Trivia game a good effort, but ducked out after the Guess Who? round was a solid dud. The singular Brochacho and the one lovely Cha could've really used the help of their amigos -- they went home with a sincere thanks from the Quizmaster, but she knows that only gets you so far.
Meeseeks and Destroy didn't do THAT much better than Brochacho and Cha, but it was enough to score the third place prize! The Quizmaster may or may not have accepted a $100 bribe to get them there... but who'd've thunk it'd be counterfeit? Sure fooled me!
My Drinking Team Has A Trivia Problem started off really strong, being the only team to double down all night, but Girl's Club quickly caught up and even overtook them at one point. Even the free appetizer/dessert round was intense, as I made the best female chugger from each team compete against each other -- Girl's Club and My Drinking Team finished at the same time and had to square off in a rock-paper-scissors game.
But ultimately, My Drinking Team decided to register their team name at the last minute, and the took home first place, leaving Girl's Club with second place by ONE POINT (but we're hoping the free dessert made up for it).
Great job to all TGI Fridays teams! <3
It was not a good night for state capital questions, but everyone dominated in monarchs, ABBA songs, 80's music, and all fun facts about very young dreamboat Tom Holland!
BFWBF did very well, all things considering, but just could not keep up with other teams getting perfect scores on some of these rounds. Happy Birthday Maria knew Tom Holland and 80's music so well, but chickened out on a musical double-down. Girl's Club didn't deliberately refuse to double down, but decided too late -- missing out on opportunities on both Rounds 5 and 6. Their choice cost them first place, and was instead taken by Brochachos & Chas, celebrating a birthday of their own (so it was only fair, we guess).
Everyone was considerate enough to Let The Wookie Win [third place], and they also won an extra appetizer/dessert coupon for coming up with the most creative, PG-rated secret Quizmaster Charlotte would be keeping from federal courts about wealthy and powerful people in this country... that would result in committing "suicide"... while on suicide watch... after the guards "fell asleep"... Knowing how many licks it takes to get to the tootsie roll center of a Tootsie Pop is going to my grave!
