Where's the Whiskey? had their serious game faces on, intimidating everyone else at TGI Fridays with their vast knowledge on everything except Ethan Hunt. They won first place by a landslide!
We cried when Team Savage left us as quickly as they joined us, but remembered to smile because it happened. The birthday girl had other bars to show off her birthday tiara at -- you do you!
There's no better way to celebrate your almost-weekend than with good friends, endless apps, delicious beer, and a King Trivia game with minimal competition.
Mom & Dad jumped in a little late in the game, and I've been grounded for not waiting for them. But they would've beaten everyone if they had made it on time! (They'll also change the Wi-Fi password if I don't boost their egos a bit.)
Tonight's newbies were The Ramicorns, who excelled at all things Aretha Franklin-related and had some really good Oscar winner/nominee guesses. Not only did they get $10 in TGI Fridays gift cards for their efforts, but they also took home a free appetizer/dessert for coming up with the scariest story in 10 words or less: "Donald Trump might get elected president again in 2020." Ugh, totally sleeping with the lights ON tonight...
Where's the Whiskey? had a few major double-down mishaps, which may have cost them first place (by one point, d'oh!). But they finally nailed the round about all things fast, so $20 in gift cards went to them.
Eat Me, I'm a Danish took home the big $30 prize for being every so slightly more knowledgeable on their general trivia, speedy things, whale connections, and Oscar winners/nominees. They only won it by a hair, so there may or may not have been some serious sweating. Glory to them, all the same!
It was great having so many King Trivia players having TGI Fridays for dinner instead of leftover Halloween candy at home.
Say What?!? was betrayed by the beautiful Janelle Monae, and it was tricky to catch up after that. But they did pheomenally well for first-time players, and I hope to see them again soon!
Endless App Krew knew all about their Janelle and twins, so with their powers combined, they had the smarts to take home the $10 third place prize. Great job, ladies!
Quizmaster-in-training Kim was one half of Grilled Cheese Syndicate. After rocking it for his first time on the mic, he and his teammate came back to claim $20 in second place winnings, being so well-rounded in their Nic Cage movies, poker terms, and World Series losers.
Where's the Whiskey? took home the $30 gold, just BARELY beating out Grilled Cheese Syndicate by ONE point! Phew! They knew their alcoholic drinks, poker terms, Janelle, Nic Cage, and were definitely "twinning," so the first place title was much deserved.
