Once 8:00 pm, half the bar left for Mamma Mia! across the street, but all the cool kids stuck around for King Trivia. Does the Cerritos Center give away free appetizers? Gift cards? DIDN'T THINK SO.

Serial Sisters got to take home a free appetizer for no other reason than they deserved it (that's the story we're sticking with). Dutch Mafia got tuckered out towards the end, but still got to go home with two free appetizers as a 3rd place prize. The Blank Slate came in with low expectations, but took home $25 as a 2nd place prize, and putting me in my place when I thought The Traveling Wilburys was an old person's band. It Takes 2 won fair and square thanks to their bill denomination/Tom Hanks/science fiction/Jackson 5 smarts, and went home with $30 in TGI Fridays gift cards.

All in all, it was nice to see everyone got to go home with a consolation prize for dealing with the attitude my sound system was giving everyone. Cheers to not going deaf!

Always thrilled to be helping you fine Fridays fellows kick off your almost-weekend with some King Trivia!

Bud Light started bringing up the rear at the beginning of the game, but I warned everyone they were not to be trifled with! They wound up with the 3rd place prize of two free appetizers, saved by their devilishly superior movie knowledge. Lieutenant Dan's Legs got a great start from the get-go, not only taking home the $25 2nd place prize, but an additional free appetizer for knowing the most African countries during our free appetizer round! Girl @ The Bar kicked some serious booty, even without her equally smart partner in crime, and took home the $30 1st place prize -- which she is NOT to share!

Special shout-outs to Framy, who show up almost every week, give it their all, and are such a delight to be around; and new players Balls, who gave me a fun team name to shout into the microphone, and gave the game a valiant effort, even though they only came in at the beginning of Round 5.

How awesome to see some new faces at King Trivia tonight!

Green insisted they weren't great at trivia, but with quite a bit of help from Oprah Winfrey, they managed to keep their lead the ENTIRE game, and scored $30 in TGI Fridays gift cards. #Agu missed out on the first round, but still pulled through to the second place spot, taking home $20 in TGI Fridays gift cards. Kim brought up the rear, but the story as a happy ending -- not only did she take home the $10 third place prize, she got a free appetizer for guessing more cat breeds/species than the other teams during our free appetizer round.

It was a pleasure hosting in the dining area tonight, but I hope the NFL will let me have my usual table back in the cocktail lounge soon!
