Last night caught me by surprise I will begin by acknowledging. I had landed the night before from New York; was there for a wedding visiting relatives. Had a very energizing week followed by a crash of tiredness, and sense of exhaustion. I may add I had mixed emotions since I had just left family and saw a close relative get married. I was alone passing the time, and out of the blue received a message to host trivia at one of my favorite bars in town. I thought to myself, "what better way to get into my groove than perform trivia. Something that energizes me and excites almost more than anything." Last night was just that. I came into the room and received enthusiasm from the crowd off the bat, and I knew tonight would be rich with energy and excitement. Positivity quickly entered the room as we all started was was to be a heated and competitive trivia night. We had upwards of 8 teams, all who came ready to rumble! I will see leaving this night my favorite round and the round which got some great hype was the dog round. I guess now we all can be more well informed citizens the next time we pet a cute dog here in LA and in the world. Useful, and fun information. Trivia night at its best. Thank you everyone for playing, until next time!

Come one, came all to King Trivia at 33 Taps in Silver Lake this past Wednesday. The Bean Counters took an early lead and held it throughout the night. Doubling down successfully 3x propelled them to victory. Second place wasn't far behind, as GloboChem was only 3-points away. A new team of beer lovers, called Mas Trivia ended up in third with 69 points. No one will be seeing the live-action Lion King movie anytime soon, as everyone has to prepare for next Wednesday's King Trivia battle at 33 Taps in Silver Lake. Can't wait...

QUIZ RECAP

17 teams gathered on this warm Wednesday night for a hefty game of trivia, duking it out through seven rounds.

From answering questions about the Spice Girls to naming the insurance companies corresponding to commercial clips (yes, the video round worked fantastically this week!), each team played with a great deal of heart.

As 90s hits wafted from the speakers, giving us a mix of N*Sync to Destiny's Child to 98 Degrees to Jesse McCartney, it was a consistently close game, with the choices for Double or Nothing causing ongoing fluctuations in the leaderboard -- and ultimately boiling down to the winners.

By the end of the night, Tried & Trivial snagged first place with 71 points as Bean Counters came right in second place, hot on their tail with 69 points, and Globo-Chem not only won the Drinking Round (guesstimating most closely the numbers for Spider-Man: Far from Home's Independence Day weekend six-day box office and its promotional marketing spend) but also managed to place third overall.

Honorable mentions go to Maltese Falcons for diligently returning their pens and offering a group hug on paper, Jue Bong for the correction when their team was mistakenly called Joe Borg throughout the first few initial rounds, It's Quizness Time for being "a team of boys who knew this much" about the Spice Girls, Isadora & Masher for conjuring up "The Star Must Go On" as the potential subtitle for Star Trek V, the member from Middle who was the only one to name the Delta blues from western Mississippi, and Cirque du so Gay for bringing so much energy!

What many answers lacked in correctness throughout the night, they more than made up for in creativity.

The best incorrect answer of the night had to be the one from Bean Counters, listing Sporty Spice's full name, first and last, as "Megan Rapinoe." After all, if Melanie Chisholm was the Sporty Spice of the 90s, it's safe to say that Megan Rapinoe is the unofficial Sporty Spice of the 2000s.

Wonderful job, everyone! Thank you for making it out.

Kudos from your friendly neighborhood Quizmaster Sanyee!
