QUIZ RECAP

Another Wednesday night, another packed house at 33 Taps. Local champs The Bean Counters were at it again, bringing in the W with 60 points. There was a strong showing of 30-point teams that all conceded defeat once arriving at the frighteningly hard final question about J.K. Rowling's books. No, not those books with the wizards and Hagrid. Books like "The Silkworm." Have you read "The Silkworm"? I didn't think so.

Anyway, here are some highlights:

-There are a surprising number of rappers who have a "double-m" name. Method Man, Mac Miller (RIP), Marshall Mathers...all great answers. Unfortunately it was Common (lol).

-One team which will not be named affectionately put "ur mom" as an answer every round. 10 points for consistency, 0 points for your actual score.

-People were so dumbfounded by that J.K. Rowling Question that nearly half the teams just started inventing fake titles of J.K. Rowling Books. Such great titles as, "Not Harry Potter" and "Hot Harry Potter." I don't know how this would work, but can that be a category?

QUIZ RECAP

They packed it loud and they packed it plenty on this Wednesday evening of Trivia. Just like the Democratic nominees for President, there were more candidates for tonight's trivia than one could muster. The teams showed up and they showed up to PLAY.

There was lead change after lead change during this one, but in the end, it was Tried and Trivial hoisting the proverbial first place trophy for the evening. Zero Days Sober made it interesting with a strong 66 points, but it looks like their propensity to avoid sobriety didn't luck them a win this time.

Here are some other highlights:

-Great Wall Vagina, for winning most spirited team for the evening (and having a kickass name). They also won the drinking round!

-Whoever got really excited about the cereal "Alpha-Bits"

-Shoutout to all February birthdays! It was my birthday yesterday, and a soon-to-be-February birthday won our drinking round.

-Special shoutout to the movie "Wonder Park," for having arguably the most generic movie title of 2019.

QUIZ RECAP

Love. You could smell it in the air as Valentine's Day approached. Or maybe it was the smell of 15 eager teams ready to compete in a rousing round of trivia. Or maybe it was the smell of buffalo cauliflower in my general vicinity. Probably a little of all three.

It was a hotly contested battle tonight, with leads switching throughout the whole evening. In the end, the comeback kings/queens were the Bean Counters, coming from down early to finish with a whopping 74 points.

Some other highlights:

-The team Ovaries Before Broveries, for having the team name Ovaries Before Broveries.

-Second-place team Kate Beckinsailors wins best dressed with their matching white sailor hats.

-The drinking round consisted of naming celebrity couples based off their name. I think I speak for all of us when I say the people miss "Taylor Squared".
