QUIZ RECAP

You see a lot of things when you're a quizmaster. Odd things. Strange things. Things that cannot be explained. Things that defy rational analysis. Things that...are...NOT OF THIS WORLD!!

I saw something last night. Oh sweet mother of God, I saw something last night that chilled me to the bone. It was horrifying and fascinating and altogether disturbing.

The sideyard patio at Golden Road Brewery in Glendale is, without doubt, one of the most welcoming and delightful venues in the King Trivia family of venues. Comfortable and capacious, it is the perfect place to spend an evening among your fellow trivia aficionados. The wrought iron fence that runs along the outside periphery of the patio has been overcome by the thick, green vines that have grown up, around and throughout the fence, rendering the fence itself all but invisible. But it's there, to be sure, and thank GOD it's there!!

Last night, several quizinators told me that they heard strange sounds emanating from the shrubbery out there, on the outer periphery. Eventually, I felt I had no choice but to investigate. I am, after all, the resident Quizmaster at Golden Road, and I know that quizinators look to their quizmasters for leadership, and to show courage in the face of whatever danger might be lurking within the thick but dimly lit shrubbery.

So I boldly pulled up my adult-size lederhosen, activated the flashlight on my cell phone, and went to see what all the fuss was about.

Well, as you can see from the photo above, the thing in the shrubbery was more horrible than anything I might have imagined. The team sitting closest to the shrub claimed it was a friend of theirs, but I am convinced that it is a mutated form of sasquatch, and it smelled even worse than it looked.

QUIZ RECAP

I always like a good, clever team name, and as a King Trivia Quizmaster, I hear a lot of 'em. You guys are funnnnn-neeeee! But a rare and funny thing happened this week when I read the team names and scores for the first time at Golden Road Brewery in Glendale.

When I got to a certain name, the crowd erupted with laughter and then...APPLAUDED! Yup. The actually applauded for a funny, clever, unexpectedly timely team name. And what was that team name?

Yup, that one wowed the crowd, and - truth be told - it wowed me too. Nice job, Quiz in my Pants (they're usual moniker). We salute you.

but it was Ursula who won for her spirit.
