QUIZ RECAP

One of the very best things about a night of quizzing at a King Trivia event is the quality of the people you'll typically find here. Yep, KT quizinators are a fine, funny, smart and sassy group of people, and you'll always be in good company when you're quizzing with the King!

Such was the case this week at Golden Road Brewery in Glendale, where no fewer than TEN teams of first-timers joined us out on the side yard for a balmy batch of questions and answers.

Yes, we made many new friends last night, and yes, as promised, I'm gonna give you your shout-out, Jake and Julie. We're always happy to make new friends, and were delighted by the many newcomers who brought fresh energy to our humble little competition.

QUIZ RECAP

There are no words to describe the intensity, excitement and incredible party atmosphere that takes hold out on the patio every Tuesday night at Golden Road Brewery in Glendale.

I mean, really, there is no way to describe it, other than to say it's raucous, radical, and the place to be if you're a dedicated, competitive quizinator! No, we can't describe it. You've got to experience it!!

It's also funny. Sometimes intentionally; sometimes not. For example, a funny thing happened during the third round last night. That round had a "dragon" theme, wherein all questions and answers have something to do with - you know - dragons.

The first question of that round asked for the name of the film from 1996 in which actor Sean Connery voices Draco the last Dragon? The correct answer is "Dragonheart." of course. But the smart-alecks calling themselves Name Pending offered The Hunt For Red October as their answer. Okay, maybe ya had to be there.

QUIZ RECAP

This week, your humble quizmaster is compelled to bow his head in respect and admiration for the team calling itself Room For Uncle, who showed what they are made of during last night's blistering session of King Trivia at Golden Road Brewing Co. in Glendale.

Last week, after a truly lackluster, second-to-last-place performance, this quizmaster said terrible things about this stalwart, pugnacious, tenacious team. Just in case you missed it, I wrote:

And at the other end of the spectrum, and even more tragic, is the sad tale of wrong answers and missed opportunities that is Team Iron Wolf. You might have heard of them. They've called themselves Hieroglyphic Buttjam, My Uncle Bruce is a Pedophile, #squadgoals and lord knows what other improbable names.

I even went so far as to suggest that they rename themselves "The Doublin' Nuthin's!" Pretty harsh, I know. But I believed in my heart that this was just the ticket to inspire this intrepid band of quizinators! I truly believed that Uncle wouldn't cry "uncle!" Oh no! They would dig deep, search their souls and deliver a performance worthy of the greats!

I mean, sure, they only ended up in third place. But hey! That's a huge improvement over last week, and I salute you, Room For Uncle!!*
