While we're certainly happy for our Swedish Fish Oreos and our Trans-Pacific Partners and Kool Kidz at the Table, who comprise our troika of winners with an enthusiastic and utterly successful effort, we cannot help but mourn for some of our other teams who turned out for a fierce session of King Trivia this week at Golden Road Brewery in Glendale this week.
Firstly, this quizmaster offers condolences and heartfelt sympathy to one of our favorite teams - Yer a Quizzard, Harry. They fought hard. They played well. They drew upon a wide range of knowledge to remain at the top of the scoreboard all evening. But when they dust settled, they came up one point shy of the winner's circle with a 64.
ONE POINT! JUST ONE BLEEPIN' POINT! How can you not feel sympathy for a sad, sad story like that!? Sorry Quizzards. Perhaps you'll find that elusive point next week.
And at the other end of the spectrum, and even more tragic, is the sad tale of wrong answers and missed opportunities that is Team Iron Wolf. You might have heard of them. They've called themselves Hieroglyphic Buttjam, My Uncle Bruce is a Pedophile, #squadgoals and lord knows what other improbable names. But this week...ahhh, this week...
This week, they should have perhaps called themselves The Doublin' Nuthin's, in light of the bold, perhaps ill-advised, and ultimately unsuccessful attempts to double in the second, fifth AND sixth rounds! They've won in the past, and they will undoubtedly win again in the future. But this week? Ahhhh, not this week.
See y'all next week, when we may well see the Iron Wolves rise like a phoenix from the ashes. Or not. Could go either way. The future is awfully difficult to predict.

It's true of all King Trivia quizzers: once you've gotten a taste for victory, you just can't get enough! Such was the case with Gingko 1997 this week!
Fresh off their excellent 4th place finish at our Jurassic Park Special Event last week, the Gingko gang came into the sideyard patio with guns blazin' and their eyes squarely on the prize. Hence their first place finish this week at Golden Road Brewery in Glendale.
This quizmaster is a big fan of fun, unexpected team names, and we had a trio of good ones at Golden Road this week. Prince George Michael Bolton not only offered up a royally amusing team name. They also had what it takes to finish in the winner's circle, just ahead of Bustin' Out of Burbank, who may have busted out, but they didn't get far. (Glendale is right next door, after all!)
Among the other names that made us smile this week were the New Boot Goofers - which isn't as easy to say as you might think - and the Hardfart Howlers, - a name we laughed at, but aren't going to comment on.
But perhaps our favorite team name of the week found inspiration in the headlines, calling themselves I Don't Quiz, Do U? That cracked us up, though some people were not so amused - as photo #6 clearly shows. See ya next week!
