About Grunions Sports Bar & Grill

Grunions Sports Bar & Grill is a South Bay local landmark. It’s been a local’s favorite spot to watch any major (and even minor) sporting event while eating the best pub food around. It all started in 1974 when Grunions Sports Bar & Grill opened its doors in Manhattan Beach, CA. The mission then, as it is today, was to provide a place where people can go and enjoy great food and drinks while cheering on their favorite sports teams, in a comfortable (and family friendly) environment where everyone is treated like a regular even if it’s their first visit. Whether you live in the area or just visiting, we have what you are looking for…guaranteed!

Daddy came out swinging with a successful Double attempt and didn't stop there - they would go on to successful Double their points twice more! They also named the Guess Who? after the first clue - but no surprise there - it was a Game of Thrones character and an easy one for our teams to pick up on. Behind Daddy was Team Plutonium with two successful Double attempts, just enough to land them in second place. Same goes for Quiztopher Walken who botched the final round but still landed in third place. Kudos to Daddy for also winning the Drinking Round Challenge by accurately guessing the 80s song or artist in Name That Tune! (No surprise there!) KuddelMuddel had some strong rounds and a large team but it just wasn't enough to land them in the top 3. And while Quiz Whalifa has proven to be a strong rival in the past, tonight just wasn't their night. Thanks to all the teams for coming out - let's do it again soon!

After a timid first week with a bad trivia team name - the formerly-named team of AWDN returned this week with force as Jack & The Questioning Catholics... After a strong game, they finished in 1st place to prove they will be a steady opponent moving forward! Behind them we had a tie for second place, coming down to Team Plutonium and RIP Bill Paxton, and a sports-related Tie Breaker. The win for 2nd place would go to Team Plutonium, but leaving RIP Bill Paxton in third place. But don't worry - the Birthday boy team also won the Drinking Round by successfully naming the tune based off its Kidz Bop version. Thanks for a fun night everyone and we'll see you next week!

It's a sad sad day, as we learned that We're Fine, Everything's Fine is now We're Moving, Everyone's Moving and therefor may not be at trivia as often... how sad! But still happy, because they came in 1st place for their last night as a team - woo! And they had quite the lead, leaving Quiztopher Walken in their dust/second place. Congrats to newcomers AWDN for landing in third place - hope to see you next week but with a better name! 😉 And kudos to Daddy who didn't place, but did win the Drinking Round by Naming That Tune -- Animal Sounds Edition!
