About Grunions Sports Bar & Grill

Grunions Sports Bar & Grill is a South Bay local landmark. It’s been a local’s favorite spot to watch any major (and even minor) sporting event while eating the best pub food around. It all started in 1974 when Grunions Sports Bar & Grill opened its doors in Manhattan Beach, CA. The mission then, as it is today, was to provide a place where people can go and enjoy great food and drinks while cheering on their favorite sports teams, in a comfortable (and family friendly) environment where everyone is treated like a regular even if it’s their first visit. Whether you live in the area or just visiting, we have what you are looking for…guaranteed!

Team Plutonium has been on a roll lately! Does it have anything to do with their special felt tip pen they've been using to write their answers again? Tough to say, but the quizmaster definitely has enjoyed the crisp and clear answers on their answer sheets.

We awarded some beer based on estimating the quizmaster's height and weight combined. The only catch was that it was using the metric system! I was flattered to see so many teams thought I was a combined height in CM and weight in KG of 135, but the correct answer was 165 as one lucky team was very close. We'll see if the crowd can guess my weight next week, but this time in stones!

Lots of Beliebers in the crowd tonight with a Justin Bieber themed bonus round. The Diggle Bicks won some free beer by being ridiculously close to guessing the word BABY is heard 56 times throughout Bieber’s hit song.

There was a good amount social commentary with our team names tonight. It was only fitting that the team “How Come They Have History, But Not Herstory” took first place the week leading up to the women’s march. We’ll see if they can march back to Grunions next week to defend their title.

It was a packed house tonight as everyone's extended new year's hangovers finally wore off. Either that or the people are already falling through on their resolution to not go out drinking as much. Trivia is just too much fun to stay away from the bar for long!

With Martin Scorsese as the mystery person tonight, there were quite a few different attempts at spelling his name right. People often ask if spelling counts at trivia and luckily for the team who spelled it "Scorcici" we understand people are drinking. We won't mark anyone incorrect as long as we can tell what they were going for.
