Grunions Sports Bar & Grill is a South Bay local landmark. It’s been a local’s favorite spot to watch any major (and even minor) sporting event while eating the best pub food around. It all started in 1974 when Grunions Sports Bar & Grill opened its doors in Manhattan Beach, CA. The mission then, as it is today, was to provide a place where people can go and enjoy great food and drinks while cheering on their favorite sports teams, in a comfortable (and family friendly) environment where everyone is treated like a regular even if it’s their first visit. It was a clean sweep for Team Plutonium tonight! Slow and steady won the quiz as they waited till the later rounds to pull a one, two, double down combination punch and snuck into first place at the last possible opportunity. It was no easy feat as they were just one of two teams to know each color of the six original Trivial Pursuit wedges, even brown! Why would they make one brown? I guess there were a lot more earthy tones in board games back in the day.

Plutonium also dominated our hockey themed drinking round in honor of the Stanley Cup final by naming more NHL teams than anyone else. They even included the upcoming expansion team in Seattle! We'll see if they can defend their title next week and hoist the trivia cup again.

Despite some tragic confusion of Jim Carrey for John Leguizamo during the picture round, most teams were able to keep it close until late in the game. Trivia is the only place where your knowledge of MLB official hashtags, Johnny Cash, and the top producers of coffee in the world could all be covered in one night.

Tonight's drinking round featured a mathematical challenge as we took turns naming prime numbers until we eliminated all, but one team. Who says you shouldn't learn math since you'll never use it in the real world!

Tonight's podium featured some usual suspects in Quiztopher Walken and Team Plutonium, but joining them was none other than MOM! She was here 2 and she really made the difference, helping vault her team into third place.

Although it was Tuesday, we gave away some free beer in our bonus round themed to Saturday Night Live. With 107 present or previous full time cast members to choose from, it should have been easy to keep naming more names. You'd be surprised, however, how quickly folks drop out of this sort of round. It certainly didn't help that although Steve Martin was featured in 27 episodes as either a host or guest appearance, he was never an official cast member. Very confusing!
