About Grunions Sports Bar & Grill

Grunions Sports Bar & Grill is a South Bay local landmark. It’s been a local’s favorite spot to watch any major (and even minor) sporting event while eating the best pub food around. It all started in 1974 when Grunions Sports Bar & Grill opened its doors in Manhattan Beach, CA. The mission then, as it is today, was to provide a place where people can go and enjoy great food and drinks while cheering on their favorite sports teams, in a comfortable (and family friendly) environment where everyone is treated like a regular even if it’s their first visit. No surprise here as Team Plutonium return to take the week's top prize, but it was up to Daddy and Tru Dat to battle it out for second place. A question about a Rubiks cube and two very poor answers later, Daddy managed have the less poor answer which lead them into second place - a spot they hadn't seen for a few weeks. Kudos to JBs & T who were so0o0o0o0o0o close to landing in the top 3 - they successfully Doubled in the last couple rounds and were one of the only teams to do so - but were still shy just one point. Better luck next time!

And a special shout out to our last place team, foreigners by the name of Dutch Barney Army, who struggled through the Guess What? round and basically any question too focused on American pop culture, but they hung in there and were even able to win the Drinking Round by successfully throwing a dart closest to a Bull's Eye!

After a pretty even-keeled game with minimal Double attempts, we made it to the final round with TheOtherBarWasFull having won the game - and I think surprising themselves in the process - with 3 other teams tied for second place. In the end, Quiztopher Walken would take home 2nd place prize, while Chaffing the Dream barely edging out Team Plutonium. So after many, many weeks in the top 3, Team Plutonium finally dropped out of the podium positions!

We also tried another round of SING that Tune! which left us with Daddy knowing most of the words to Journey's "Don't Stop Believin' " thus winning the pitcher of beer for their team.

Well tonight was our biggest night of trivia to date, as we started out with a whopping 17 teams! And in the very first round alone, we had ELEVEN of those teams successfully Double their points!! And then in round 2, another TEN teams successfully Doubled... Round 3 was a struggle for everyone... but we picked up again in round 5 when SEVEN more teams Doubled up as we continued to whittle down to our top teams.

The top prize would eventually go to Kuddel Muddel with Team Plutonium not far behind in 2nd place. There was a tie for the 3rd place spot, and it came down to a Quiztopher Walken and B Team and a sports-realted question. While WQ walked away the successor, we learned that B Team WOULD have won had they just simply remembered to turn in their pen at the end of Round 7.... ah, never let the pen decide if you win or lose, folks!
