Tonight was quite the night for Quiztopher Walken. First they pulled off a crucial double down on one of the hardest connection rounds I've seen as they were the only team to figure out all the answers had to do with hawks. I believe one of them mentioned dating a falconer at one point.
Then in our paper airplane bonus round, they went on to craft a plane of an unusual design. Something unique and yet it looked so familiar...
It wasn't enough to win the beer, however, as Sparkling Dancing Unicorns folded an origami crane. It didn't fly very well, but it was most impressive!
Wow! What a bunch of professional trivia teams we have here! Every team turned in their rounds promptly, cheered for their correct answers, quieted down for new questions, told me they liked my playlist, and most importantly: there were more successful Doubles than this QuizMaster has ever seen!
Tonight was so successful, in fact, that the top 2 teams tied on account of THE PEN RULE! Who would have thought that forgetting to return a borrowed pen could cost the top team their lead, whilst the second place team actually remembered to return their borrowed pen.... Throwing them both in to a tiebreaker round!!! That is a rare occurrence, folks.
But don't worry, the formerly 1st place team was able to successfully answer the tiebreaker question and reclaim their top spot on the leader board. Awesome job, Jewclear Disarmament! Better luck next time, Team Plutonium.
Thank you to everyone for coming out - especially teams like:
-Kanye's Tweet, whose answers gave me a chuckle
-Sheesh, who never remembered to turn in their answers but were always having fun
-Touched By An Uncle who joined in round 4 and miraculously didn't end up in last place
-Diggle Bicks for their fun spirit
....And every single team who made the night as much fun for me as it was for you!
Instead of our usual quiz and a bonus game mid-way through the game to award a pitcher of beer, tonight our teams had a special challenge. The funniest incorrect answer submitted would win the prize! The Diggle Bicks ended up taking the beer from their picture round guess that the Burberry logo was actually Keith Ledger in A Knights Tale. In this quizmaster's humble opinion it was a spot on deep reference worthy of some free drinks.
The same team pulled off the win in the quiz as well for a clean sweep, narrowly defeating newcomers Three Wise Men. They also drove Plutonium to the bottom of the standings, forcing them to gamble with their points late in the game, causing their two-game winning streak come to an end.
