About Grunions Sports Bar & Grill

Grunions Sports Bar & Grill is a South Bay local landmark. It’s been a local’s favorite spot to watch any major (and even minor) sporting event while eating the best pub food around. It all started in 1974 when Grunions Sports Bar & Grill opened its doors in Manhattan Beach, CA. The mission then, as it is today, was to provide a place where people can go and enjoy great food and drinks while cheering on their favorite sports teams, in a comfortable (and family friendly) environment where everyone is treated like a regular even if it’s their first visit. Whether you live in the area or just visiting, we have what you are looking for…guaranteed!

We had another wild night of "first team to turn in their answer sheet each round gets to decide what every other team has to do!" This means the first team to turn in an answer sheet got a bonus point, then go to pick something silly as a challenge to other teams in order to gain THEIR bonus point. We saw twerking, we heard quacking, and we saw some pretty horrible dance moves. But overall it was a fun time by all!

Quiztopher Walken had Doubles in rounds 2 and 6 which would lead them to 1st place. Daddy decided not to partake in our silly bonus point antics and much to my chagrin they still ended up in 2nd place! 😉 And kudos to Quiz Whalifa for being the only team to get my No-Risk-Reward Bonus Option in Round 5 - and for landing in 3rd place!

We will have subsitute QuizMasters for the next 2 weeks - I'm sure you'll love them even more than you adore me. 😉

Congrats to Daddy on their first place win, all thanks to know who to Guess Who? and for their many successful Double-point rounds. Even when the final round was all about sports - their weakest topic - they prevailed! Quiztopher Walken waltzed into second play, while Tru Dat not only took home third place but ALSO won the Drinking Round Challenge by throwing a dart closest to the bullseye... great job!

And while we all had fun, I have to point out how uncharacteristic it was for Team Plutonium to land in 5th place! Rarely to they miss the top 3, so of course I have to let them know when they do. 😉 See you all next week!

It's always fun to recruit new players to trivia - like teams AZZ and Jimmy Johnson Jenkins who had fun turning in answers despite rarely receiving points. It's even more fun when teams have a fun time and return to play in the following weeks - like team My Wife who continues to show up and just narrowly misses the top 3.

Find The Connection proved to be one of the more difficult rounds this week - with only 1 team actually guessing the correct theme, and another team being very close. And while we were slim on the Double attempts in the first half of the game, the Double attempts in the second half of the game would go on to determine out top 3 finishers. Quiz Whalifa ended up on top after a few weeks not placing, with Daddy and Quiztopher Walken taking up the other two spots - no surprise there!
