Grunions Sports Bar & Grill is a South Bay local landmark. It’s been a local’s favorite spot to watch any major (and even minor) sporting event while eating the best pub food around. It all started in 1974 when Grunions Sports Bar & Grill opened its doors in Manhattan Beach, CA. The mission then, as it is today, was to provide a place where people can go and enjoy great food and drinks while cheering on their favorite sports teams, in a comfortable (and family friendly) environment where everyone is treated like a regular even if it’s their first visit. It was a radical one tonight thanks mostly to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles connection round. Beer was awarded to the best celebrity impersonation and not surprisingly it was a Schwarzenegger "Get to da choppa!" that won the contest.

Congrats to the Diggle Bicks who showed what happens when the quizmaster teases you early on in the game... you blow away the competition and shut him up by beating out most teams by at least 20 points. Come back next week and we'll see if we get another team worthy of my reverse curse.

The Grunions trivia regulars are notorious critics of our final round. The topics are often too obscure to be sure you got enough to win, which is frustrating for any team close to taking home a prize. Tonight's cricket round was no exception as I received a fair amount of ribbing, but all was forgiven by the time I gave out the prizes.

A special shoutout to our Jewish team who not only won the game, but never fails to come up a new spin on their name based on current events. Congrats Syrjewse vs. Jewke on the win and the March Madness inspired name!

In honor of March 14th, we celebrated every mathematician's favorite day, Pi Day! Teams were given slips of paper with Pi (rite 3.145926 ect) to memorize and we were able to recite it to a good 20 digits before awarding the beer! Only 365 more days to study up for next year!

Beyond our Pi challenge, our quiz was a close one. After our video game hall of fame final challenge, the tiebreaker to decide first place involved guessing the height of the world's largest functioning Gameboy. Congrats to The Diggle Bicks for getting closest to the correct three-foot height of this ridiculously oversized handheld game of yesteryear.
