About Grunions Sports Bar & Grill

Grunions Sports Bar & Grill is a South Bay local landmark. It’s been a local’s favorite spot to watch any major (and even minor) sporting event while eating the best pub food around. It all started in 1974 when Grunions Sports Bar & Grill opened its doors in Manhattan Beach, CA. The mission then, as it is today, was to provide a place where people can go and enjoy great food and drinks while cheering on their favorite sports teams, in a comfortable (and family friendly) environment where everyone is treated like a regular even if it’s their first visit. Whether you live in the area or just visiting, we have what you are looking for…guaranteed!

We added a few new teams this week, including the Back Home Ballers who were poised to win it all until they failed one too many Double attempts. With a name like Remmington Steele, you would think our 1st place team were new, but in fact it was team Diggle Bicks in disguise - out to celebrate an actual newcomer to the world (newborn baby!). And real newcomers ABA ZABBA had to explain to me the meaning of their team name, but still landed in the 2nd place spot. The fight for 3rd place came down to a tie-breaker between Team Plutonium and We're Fine Everything's Fine - and after many weeks of coming THIS close to placing, We're Fine was able to barely slide into that third place position. Great job! And kudos to all of the other teams coming out - even if you don't get all the answers right, you always have a shot at winning the drinking round! Keep at it and we'll see you next week!

We had a busy night and some fun teams! Quiztopher Walken was able to hold down the top spot and taking home the W despite being short by half a team. Diggle Bicks had a successful double mid-game which allowed them to walk away in 2nd place. And even though the Carls stumbled in the final round, it was their round 6 successful Double that landed them in 3rd. Shout out to The Others who were so close to landing in the top 3, they had just 1 incorrect answer during a Double attempt which cost them the game. But they are winners in my heart for Most Fun Team of the night!

Hopefully everyone got out and voted tonight! Speaking of voting, my vote for Most Fun Team goes to Hot Pockets - thanks for coming by and being good sports! Congrats to Daddy who won for the second week in a row. Kudos to Diggle Bicks who Doubled their point late in the game, allowing them to land in 2nd place! And while We're Fine, Everything's Fine was SO close to landing in 3rd, the spot went to Quiztopher Walken. Great job all around, especially to the one who correctly spelled Supercalifragilistexpialidocious for the drinking round. 😉
