Happy New Year! The first game of 2017 at The White Harte was freaking awesome! Over the New Year's weekend, I got a new (to me) 2008 Toyota Prius. So in our "My New Whip" drinking round I had teams tell me what I should've gotten instead and why. We had a bunch of great answers like "A Hummer, 'cause you suck!" "A Delorean, you'll always be on time!" "A garbage truck...for your jokes" and "The Batmobile, because you're not the hero this pub needs, but the one this pub deserves!" But winning our drinking round (for the 2nd week in a row) was "The New Guys" with the very blunt answer "a 2009 Toyota Prius... Don't settle man!"
As for the winners of our regularly scheduled trivia program: "The Puntificators" took home 3rd. Although I don't believe I heard them preach about puns. "Manifest Destiny's Child" took home second and their victory spread so far west that Beyonce heard about it all the way in her Malibu home she bought from Cher. But our champions tonight "Your Mom" won because if they were referring to my mom... Jackie Hardie is one smart cookie! (My mom was not on their team and no favoritism was expressed during the course of this, or any King Trivia game. *This should be read in a fast talking lawyer disclaimer voice.*)

It was a cold night in Woodland Hills, but The White Harte was on FIRE! (ok, not literally... But on fire with knowledge!) All of our teams came up with awesome New Year's resolutions they don't intend to keep in our Drinking Round "Empty Promises." With such gems as "I resolve to not double down so much at trivia," "Give Trump a chance," "I'm going to laugh at Adam's jokes," "Hide my victims better," "I'll start waxing my gooch," "I'm going to stop offering handies for trivia answers" and our winners "The New Guys" with: "No more looking at my poop after I wipe my butt (you know you do it!)"
Showing their superior parenting skills by leaving the kiddies at home to go out and get drunk, were "Luke I am Your Father Figure" who claimed 3rd place. Another Star Wars themed team who almost made me cry with their name "C'mon I want a Leia" took home 2nd, and proving that old people are classy A F, "Argyle" claimed victory over all!

Holy fapping elves Batman! This was a close, close game. From round 3 to 6, all teams were either tied with or 1 point ahead/behind of their closest rivals! At the end, "Don't Panic" who never lost their cool, came in 3rd, "Kirkland Signature" proved to be just as high quality as the brands...uh...teams they competed with and came in 2nd, and tonight's BIG winners "Nihilistic Simians" not only don't believe in anything. They especially don't believe in losing! They took home 1st and also won our "Sweater Weather" drinking round, where teams drew me an ugly holiday sweater! It was really the feathers around the neckline that really made it work! Just remember teams, ALWAYS put your team name on ALL King Trivia submissions, even the drinking rounds, otherwise you might get disqualified and then get lucky because the 2nd place team didn't really want another round of drinks anyway... An honorary mention has to go to team "Raspberries" because it was actually a really hard decision who won that drinking round, so you guys were super nice to give up your default drinks, even though you totally earned them!
