Some highly divergent early rounds led to a quick separation between teams, leading to an intense 3-team battle, while several others raised the white flag. Robert De Niro's Waiting (aka We Are Detectives, Careless Memory, Tiger Blood, and Worst Catholics) made an ill-fated double-or-nothing in the penultimate round, costing them the victory and leaving them in 3rd place. Conversely, Drink Coffee at the Merchant didn't double a perfect 6th round, and the prudence cost them first place by a point, finishing with 46, one short of the newcomer power duo Quid Pro Paleo.

Formedehyde Jones couldn't follow up on their impressive debut from last week, but did win themselves a free flight of beers in the drinking round.

Thanksgiving-Eve trivia at Rasselbock yielded a riveting, down to the wire finish this Wednesday. After 5 rounds, the top five teams were within 4 points of each other. None of those teams missed more than one in round 6, but the three who risked it with a double-or-nothing propelled themselves toward the prizes. Katia's Favorite Customers rode their knowledge of the Presidential line of succession to a strong final round and a one-point victory over "Pants!", 59-58. Lok-Dawgs finished in a close third with 55 with two successful doubles in the game. Dumb and Dumber led halfway through the game, but a decision not to double their perfect round 6 proved costly, and they finished fourth. PCP Salami missed the first round, yet found themselves in first after five rounds. They finished in 5th, but are a team to look out for in future weeks.

Katia's Favorite Customers also came away with the inaugural beer round, by most closely guessing the weight of the world record largest pumpkin.

Momentum continues to grow at Rasselbock as more new teams become regulars, and I'm excited to see the competition continue to grow!

Game Rank Team # Team Name Score Teams Beaten Team Beat Average
1 14799 Katia's Favorite Customers 59 6 1.000

The second week of trivia at Rasselbock brought us a riveting game with an exciting down-to-the-wire finish, even if over half the teams hadn't known trivia was happening before they arrived. Some rivalries seem to be brewing, and several new teams declared they'd be returning, so the competition looks to be quite stiff moving forward.

Oompapa's feast or famine style (two perfect double-or-nothings along with four rounds under 3 points) brought them a narrow victory, after a clutch double in the final round jumped them from 4th to 1st. Trivia Amigos was solid all night, entering the final round with a twelve point lead, but their lack of David Fincher knowledge cost them the victory. Why Yukiko Why?! (aka Hang the MC, Moist Tooth, KC Globetrotters, Inverted Spork, Asymetric Inverted Pepperoni Nipples, & Emo Einus) couldn't agree on a team name, but they definitely could agree on David Fincher movies, as they successfully doubled in the final round to pull themselves into third place.

J.Lo 1999 may not have ended up in the money, but they certainly look to be a force to be reckoned with in future weeks. This duo rolled in halfway through the second round, missing an entire round's worth of points, yet still managed to elevate themselves to third place by the end of the fourth round. They had two perfect but undoubled rounds, and a decision to double in either of those would have vaulted them to first, even despite their late arrival.

All in all it was an excellent game, and we'll look forward to seeing everyone back next week!
