Well, the NBA finals may have pushed our start time back a little, but that didn't matter a whit to the dedicated denizens of our delightful dive dwelling, Hyperion Public. 6 Dope Queens held an early lead all night, but when push came to shove, they dropped out of the top to give their place to Fifth Place or Bust, who took home the first place trophy. Just Erick was playing with a friend, true, but they won second place fair and square. And it was I'm Baby who clinched the drinking round with a rock-paper-scissors tie-breaker. And we still finished on time! Good work, everyone!

Wow, is it good to be back. Three long weeks away from these lovable nerds and it made me realize how much I truly missed them (and really how much they missed me). It was quite a turnout with eighteen teams showing up to pay their respects, and with only two teams taking top prizes. And you know who has been lurking, lying in wait, sharpening their claws? It was Little Lebowski's in disguise as Forceps Babies, our perennial favorites at Hyperion Public. Not too far behind them though, was Periodic Table Dancers, putting in their second second-place win in three weeks, a truly admirable feat.

The VIBE:

First time here - as I was glad to have guest hosted this cool venue. The Memorial Day crowd was about 1/3 of the norm...but their game faces said they were ready to rock!

The GAME:

In Round 1 we learned that... even in a town full of actors who "study" their craft...even if you are a co-lead inside a movie that made almost a billion dollars....nobody will remember your name if you are standing next to Jack Black and Kevin Hart for 120 minutes. Sorry, Carrie. Whoops. I mean Karen.

Rounds 2 and 3 picked up some speed and found most every team with similar scores - which is what you want to keep the competition exciting....

In a crazy Round 4/Guess Who, I watched every team (except for one) confidently turn in the wrong answer. Haha. BUT - Shoutout to Godzilla vs. The Infrastructure (who also won my no points/unofficial/I don't even tell them most of the time prize for "Best Team Name") for slow-playing the round and earning the only 2 points!

Three teams doubled-up in Round 5! And Specs Appeal almost did.

The Drinking Round was my signature basketball toss. However, for the first time ever, we had to do two rounds of play just so one team could make a basket! Hahah

Then, four teams doubled-up in Round 6! And Trash Dogs almost did.

Round 7 tested our tea knowledge, which surprisingly USA is not a world leader in producing. That's fine, at least we still rule the world in fast food and ...uh....cosmetic surgery.

The RESULTS:

In a Round 5 addition, BNC* impressively racked up 34 points in only three rounds. At that rate, and if my math is correct....had they played the entire game, they would have had roughly 649 points. Just wow.

A fun duo of females racked up 35 points - Better Luck Next Time.

A fun duo of dudes racked up 46 points - Godzilla vs. The Infrastructure.

Specs Appeal played a consistent game pulling in 48 points.

Our winners....

The Trash Dogs were trying to catch the winners...but moreover....were set on keeping their 2nd place victory with 53 points. Nice job!

Our CHAMPS of the night did not take the lead until their one-two punch combo of perfect 5th and 6th round double-ups!! So with 64 points...let's hear for......

MUSCLE SPROUTS!!!!

*BNC did not play the required four rounds to make the scoreboard.
