About Hyperion Public - Silver Lake

We are your local neighborhood restaurant and bar where everyone is welcome hence the word "Public" in our name. Our restaurant has a rough luxe decor serving quality food and cocktails, a mix of craft and traditional beers, along with a good selection of wines, in a communal atmosphere. Hidden in the back of the restaurant is our upstairs bar and lounge also serving food and cocktails, that has a jukebox, dartboard, piano, mic, and TVs for sports (Sunday NFL Ticket).

A huge turnout at Hyperion Public last night made the competition stiffer than ever, and the stings of defeat that much more potent.  Most of the teams were in a pack for the majority of the night, but it's due to the well-read success of Little Lebowski's Urban Achievers that they sneaked ahead to claim a double down in round 6.  Unbeknownst to most teams, Little Lebowksi's were lying in wait, sitting on the right moment to pounce, and pounce they did.  The commanded a lead that could not be made up.  Beatles Plus One took home the drinking round by knowing so much about music - hats off to you!

Take me home, country roads! To the place where I belong!

If you've never heard fifty people belting out John Denver in a bar before, I suggest you get on down to Hyperion Public as quickly as humanly possible.  The drinking round swiftly devolved into karaoke night as the hit parade continued, with the entirety of the establishment singing out "Midnight Train to Georgia" and "All My Ex's Live in Texas."  To call it maddeningly entertaining would be an understatement.

With only two points between 1st and 3rd places, the competition was stiff as Little Lebowski's, Stove et. al, and 6 Dope Queens duked it out for the gold.  Lebowski's pulled ahead just at the last second, scoring only a single point more than Stove et. al, who was understandably frustrated.

Truly, the remarkable showing of the night was from Kenny with the Margz, who had an incredible DOUBLE DOWN on Round 7 - a round that is so infrequently doubled it makes one even wonder why there is a double down box on the sheet!  But not only did they double, but they absolutely nailed the round, of which half the answers were in French.  I was beyond impressed and for that they deserve a special shout out here.  Congrats, ladies!

Consider us the halftime show at Hyperion Public, as the Broncos and the Chargers split right at 9 just as we were starting.  Veggie Scrambles at last took their first ever victory, AND took the drinking round as well!  An impressive feat to say the least.  Hot on their heels all night was Hurricane 9/11 feat. Wolf Blitzer, scoring just a single point behind them.

But.  But.  But.  The true heroes of the night was far and beyond Dead Weight, who provided the funniest set of answers I have ever received.  The round 7 question was, What were Michael Jackson's 10 solo albums?  They started off correctly, but soon dropped off into a series of answers that I read aloud to the entire bar, and had everyone rolling.  I've included the picture above for verification, but I'm going to write them in here as well.
