We are your local neighborhood restaurant and bar where everyone is welcome hence the word "Public" in our name. Our restaurant has a rough luxe decor serving quality food and cocktails, a mix of craft and traditional beers, along with a good selection of wines, in a communal atmosphere. Hidden in the back of the restaurant is our upstairs bar and lounge also serving food and cocktails, that has a jukebox, dartboard, piano, mic, and TVs for sports (Sunday NFL Ticket).

You show up to showdown at Hyperion Public on Monday nights, there's really no other option. 10 teams came to crush and only one emerged victorious. That team? Around the World in Dead Weighty Days! Dead Weight has won their third victory and they are no longer underdogs. They are the France to our World Cup. Not far behind them was our Brazil, Little Lebowski's Urban Achievers. They've won so many times in the past but just like this year's competition, they fell just a bit short. Our drinking round was another spelling bee, this time with the words kicked up a notch. It came down to a head to head between Jory from Coastal Rivalry and Jade from Showponies. Eventually Jade took the win with verisimilitude. Congrats to all teams!

It was a great turnout despite the heat at Hyperion Public on Monday night. These fourteen teams showed up to take the gold, or perhaps just to drink and casually answer questions in the background. Mary Kate & The Ashleys had some wicked smart double downs, but DALE! trailed behind them with their impressive sports knowledge by just a point at the end of the game.

And then we played our drinking round.

I had settled on something different from the usual music round. What with all the political shenanigans happening day in and day out, I thought it might be fun to take part in the process. So I instructed the teams to write their own Donald Trump style tweet about something pertaining to our fair city, Los Angeles. Here's just a few of what we got:

Loser Los Angeles voters vote 73% for Hilary, highest rate of homelessness, bad coffee, ugly mayor. #sad #BDE

U Bum! Lock up Lebron. Good thing I won't have to worry about you visit my White House in 4 season!

There's my Afro-American! You're welcome to Lebron Jovfefe. Making Los Angeles Great Again. The blacks love me!

Who is mayor GARCETTI? That sounds MEXICAN. And now Lebron James is coming to LA? COINCIDENCE?!? #nokingbuttrump #realnews

And our winner of the evening:

Cry baby Lebron goes to LA - hope he can be on Celeb Apprentice 28. Can't fire him! #MAGA

I like this one the most because it feels like a legitimate tweet from our Commander in Chief. It could probably be real and to me that's the scary and the funny part. Congratulations to Paul Rudd is a DILF for their cracking wit!

Sometimes you win, sometimes you lose, and sometimes you play four rounds and go home early because you screw up every double down you play. That's just the nature of trivia, really. And no one understands that better than Seize the D, who took home the first place prize on Monday night. Seize the D has been at both the bottom and top, so they've seen all sides of this trivia coin and they know how to flip it. It was Ancient Astronaut Theorists (just the Lebowski's in disguise) who sneaked up from behind for a quick second place finish. But I think Pringles took the cake with their drinking round win. They knew more songs about America than any other team, making them the most patriotic team in the bar. And therefore, the winners! Congratulations, Pringles! You did it for America!
