Last night at Hyperion Public we celebrated Lola's birthday!  And although none of us really knew Lola, (does anyone really know Lola?) we were all thrilled when her team, Lola & The Embarassments took second place.  All of her friends came out to partake in a night of drinking and merriment and hopefully, just hopefully, take a home a first place prize in trivia.  But you know who dashed those birthday dreams?  Do you know who saw Lola's eyes filled with wonder and said, "Let's poke those wonderous eyes out with a rusty fork"?

That's right, the New England Patriots of Hyperion Public had a major comeback in round 5, and unlike Tom Brady, they were able to finish out the game for a victory.  The much maligned Urban Achievers cackled raucously in the back as Lola sobbed uncontrollably while her friends patted her contritely on the back.  So unmoved were they by Lola's wailing weeping that the Urban Achievers bought her a consolation drink, and when they walked over to Lola to present it to her, they dumped it all out on the ground right in front of her.  They pushed Lola into her locker and high-fived, made their way out to the parking lot, and got into their BMW convertible that their dad bought them as a graduation gift with a license plate that reads DADSGRL.

Or, at least that's how I like to imagine this situation played out.  I have a very active imagination.

The come-from-behind-kids that are Little Lebowski's Urban Achievers really came from behind to clinch a victory on Monday night.  Pickle Rick took a very solid early lead but they could not hold on, and eventually dropped into third.  They, however, at least crushed the drinking round with their knowledge of 90s hits.  It was Bearded Ladies who was tied with Lebowski's all night who took second, but only because they didn't turn in their pen and team number.  Maybe, like, remember to do that next time?

Another rousing night of trivia at Hyperion Public on Monday night!  So many teams came out to strut their stuff, only to have their hopes dashed in front of a room full of strangers.  It was Pickle Rick who, with massive doubles in rounds 5 and 6, cruised into first past their rivals The Conversation is Open. These newcomers carried the lead all night, but had it stolen away in the end.

I think it was the drinking round that really stole the show, though.  Players were asked to send a member forward to tell their most embarrassing story in reward for beer, and boy did they reveal.  Most stories involved some form of teenage deviancy and masturbation, but the winner came from The Scatman Carothers Brothers, when Sam shared a story about how a school project was accidentally recorded onto an existing tape of porn, and was then shown to his entire 10th grade class.  That is definitely a hard one to win down.  You'll certainly need those beers now, Samwise!
