QUIZ RECAP

People seeking a way to get out of the heat came no further than Hyperion Public on Monday night, and lo and behold there was trivia afoot! Fifteen brilliant teams competed but just one emerged the winner, and that team was Michael Cohen's Secret Mixtape Collection. This dynamic trio shot ahead in the middle of the game and maintained their slight lead. But a night at HP would not be complete without Little Lebowski's Urban Achievers snaking their way through the grass to steal second place. The Round 7 double is classic Lebowski's, and the bar let out an audible groan when it was announced they took silver, a sound I'm sure the Lebowski's take much delight in hearing.

Music trivia was our drinking round and it ended in a tie, with Tampon Tapestry ultimately getting the drinks with a 2/2 rock paper scissors win. Too much fun!

You show up to showdown at Hyperion Public on Monday nights, there's really no other option. 10 teams came to crush and only one emerged victorious. That team? Around the World in Dead Weighty Days! Dead Weight has won their third victory and they are no longer underdogs. They are the France to our World Cup. Not far behind them was our Brazil, Little Lebowski's Urban Achievers. They've won so many times in the past but just like this year's competition, they fell just a bit short. Our drinking round was another spelling bee, this time with the words kicked up a notch. It came down to a head to head between Jory from Coastal Rivalry and Jade from Showponies. Eventually Jade took the win with verisimilitude. Congrats to all teams!

It was a great turnout despite the heat at Hyperion Public on Monday night. These fourteen teams showed up to take the gold, or perhaps just to drink and casually answer questions in the background. Mary Kate & The Ashleys had some wicked smart double downs, but DALE! trailed behind them with their impressive sports knowledge by just a point at the end of the game.

And then we played our drinking round.

I had settled on something different from the usual music round. What with all the political shenanigans happening day in and day out, I thought it might be fun to take part in the process. So I instructed the teams to write their own Donald Trump style tweet about something pertaining to our fair city, Los Angeles. Here's just a few of what we got:
