Can't stop won't stop with this insane trivia show! Idle Hour in NoHo is THE place to go for King Trivia, and our second-to-last show in August was no exception. 30 teams, nearly 150 players, and enough cold drinks to keep the latest heat wave at bay. It was time for an epic throwdown. 

Round for Round, this was a showcase by returning champions Quzzie McGuire and Algorithm & Blues. Our veterans champs went back and forth on points, trading doubles and disasters as they raced to the top of the leaderboard. Not to be outdone, The Bugle stay on their heels the entire time, searching for an opening into the golden throne. 

For our Drinking Round, we celebrated Chop Suey day with a "Don't Forget the Lyrics" round of...System of a Down's Chop Suey! Newbie team Yam Time for Yonzos took those free shots home with an outstanding performance. 

As the evening drew to a close, we crowned our champions: Quizzie McGuire, Algorithm & Blues, and The Bugle!

QUIZ RECAP

It was a battle of wills at Idle Hour this past Tuesday as Destiny and Determination locked horns in a wild and furious clash of quizzical supremacy. With 32 teams vying for the top spot, and veterans and newbies evenly matched, it was bound to be a showstopper. 

In our early rounds, Furious Jumpers made a furious showing as they took and early lead and secured their spot with expertly executed doubles and a strategic feint in the fifth. They wanted that win…but they weren’t the only ones. 

Birthday Barbie, a new group with an unquenchable thirst for victory, charged into the fray with wild abandon. They grew neck and neck with our veteran winners. 

During our drinking round, we asked our teams to come up with pick up lines utilizing non-traditional dairy products. 720 of Emotions took the win, though we are unable to reprint it here…as this is a family show. 

As the rounds ended the show drew to a close, it came down to the final round to find our winner. While Furious Jumpers and Birthday Barbie put up amazing numbers, it was Trivia Rodrigo coming in with a clutch double right a the end to seal their victory.

QUIZ RECAP

How can you not get excited when 24 teams arrive into a barrel-shaped battlefield with quiz on their minds? It’s King Trivia at Idle Hour, the only place to go for the best show in NoHo. 

The game began with a monster tie at the top of the board, and nearly 60% of all teams represented in that golden spot. That shrank slightly in Round Two as only six teams managed to guess all the pictures correctly: The Bugle, Quizzie McGuire, Drink-182, The Georgia 19, Full Send, Denim King Josh.

But then came the Denim King. A single former trivia host using all of his knowledge and experience to navigate the war zone that is the kingdom of trivia. We started to wonder if there really was a new king in town! His doubles jumped him higher and higher, with only a few teams keeping pace. 

Rumpleforeskin managed to steal the show for a moment during the drinking round, edging out the crowd to win the coveted free shots. Sadly, those drinks wouldn’t give them the strength to best the competition. 

Denim kept his lead in Round Five, but there is a saying in King Trivia: Doubles giveth…and Doubles taketh away. In Round Six, with a slip of the answer, Quizzy McGuire had the opening to take the lead. It was all down to the final round. 

Now Bugle had kept up so far, falling behind in Round Five only to tie in Round Six. Round Seven could decide everything, depending on the doubles…but it ended in a tie! Quizzy could have taken it all, but chose the cautious path. Denim and Bugle faced off for the final showdown. 

In a tie-breaker worthy of an entire Netflix special, Bugle took the final point and won the game. 

We ended the night with Bugle, Denim King Josh, and Quizzy McGuire!
