It was a hot night in NoHo, and that was before we even started throwing down the HOTTEST trivia in town. That’s right. Idle Hour was alive with the fiery spirit of King Trivia! 22 teams arrived for a Battle Royale of the quizzical variety.
We had some smarties in the room tonight, with our first three rounds leading to massive ties at the top of the board. It was looking like a difficult night to pick a winner…until Overeducated, Underinformed swept into the lead with a powerful grab in Guess Who.
For our Drinking Round, we chose to celebrate National Peanut Butter Lovers Day and asked how many peanuts were needed to create enough peanut butter to fill a 12 oz jar. With an astoundingly close guess, Kingbeez grabbed the free shots! Would it be enough to secure another victory?
As we sped through our second half, Overeducated held onto their lead by the skin of their teeth, but a number of teams fought to unseat them from the throne. Hawt Dogs and Quiz Kid Donnie Smith threw out every answer they could manage, along with double downs and even a bid for some extra points (we did have a birthday in the room after all). In the end, it all came down to the final round.
In the end, the experienced Overeducated, Underinformed delivered a crushing blow, securing their victory. They were followed by the excellent duo of Hawt Dogs (winner by tie-breaker) and Team Edward.

A wild and crazy night at Idle Hour. Standing room only as HUGE parties took up much of the dance floor…and most of the trivia teams. We had 24 groups coming to play, and no one was ready to go home early. It was about to be a throwdown…exactly how we like it. Welcome to King Trivia!
Our teams hit the ground running with a Battle Royale for the top spot. In Rounds 1-4, we swapped leaders with each new score. It was insanity! Who was destined to become our grand champion?
As today was National Margarita Day, we asked our teams a controversial question: When was the margarita invented? While there are numerous accounts, we went with a commonly accepted year and awarded newcomers 4th Place to free shots! Sure, there was some grumbling, but nothing a few margaritas wouldn’t cure.
Then came a thunderous Round 5, in which veteran team Agents of the Zeitgeist came roaring from the middle of the pack to the second spot. Nearly ten teams were within spitting distance of victory. As always, it would come down to our final round to decide the victor.
As the dust settled, we crowned our leaders: Diana Spencer’s Gifts, 4th Place, and Class of ’69.

The day after Valentine’s Day is always tricky, but not when you’ve got a surefire date with King Trivia. 15 teams came to play at Idle Hour for the best show in town, and we surely didn’t disappoint. With seven rounds of trivia, delicious food, and some top shelf tequila, it was a night few could forget.
We started off as usual with a MASSIVE tie after round one, but quickly this became a scrum for the top spots. Almost every team got a chance to be in a leader position as round after round became a game of musical chairs. However, Tequila Mockingbird soon earned themselves a lead that seemed insurmountable.
In our Drinking Round, we asked our teams to decide how many Valentine’s were sent in the mail each year. Newcomers Swedish Soda took the free shots, and it seemed to give them the energy to make a come from behind pull into second place!
As with most evenings, it all came down to the last question. We were sticklers for the Italian spelling for Dante’s Divine Comedy, which led to a rise in our final team. Tequila Mockingbird took the top spot, Swedish Soda Group took second, with Agents of the Zeitgeist in third.
Don’t miss another amazing date night (or any night) with Idle Hour and King Trivia!
