Happy Valentine’s Day Eve from Idle Hour! With love in the air, it only made sense for the King to descend from his throne and bestow upon the hapless denizens of NoHo the greatest of all trivia shows. That’s right, friends. KING TRIVIA was in the house, and the roof was quite literally* on fire. 

The first half of the game was spent in a dead heat as no fewer than four teams locked themselves in first place with double after double. As we rounded into the half, We’re the Problem managed to squeak in ahead and earn the first shot at the gold. 

For our drinking round, we asked the teams to write the perfect pun-filled Valentine’s Day card. The Bugle snagged it with “Are you Microsoft Excel, because you’re a freak in the sheets.”

Our final half was a tale of doubles spent and doubles wasted, of love and loss, and of the power held by Nintendo’s iconic brawler. It was an epic return for some, and a dramatic fall for others. It all ended with an amazing tie-breaker for 2nd and 3rd.

Our winners for the night were Trivial Pursuit of Dat Ass, We’re the Problem it’s Us, and POOR THINGS!

QUIZ RECAP

Neither rain nor sleet nor flooded streets can keep a Quizmaster from their venue. Our teams sailed in or rowed up on makeshift rafts, but there was no trouble making a sizable crowd for tonight’s edition of KING TRIVIA here at Idle Hour. With 15 teams hungry for some action, we dove into another epic showdown. 

The first half of our game was dominated by Team Good, as they leveraged an early double to hold down the other teams in second place. The momentum shifted during the Drinking Round, as Not Natalie Portmans used their hard-earned shots to build up the courage for a few risky doubles that brought them into second. But second soon became the hottest spot in town, with a three-way tie amongst the veteran teams. 

In Round 6, Three Cool Boys made their move, slipping just ahead of the pack by a hair and nabbing the gold medal position. It was still a neck-and-neck game…and it was about to get necker!

After seven rounds of intense trivia, we still had our three teams vying for a spot, so we went to the tie-breaker. Trivial Pursuit of Dat Ass, hesitant though they may have been, risked a big jump in the final question…and earned their place in history.

QUIZ RECAP

Here’s a riddle for you: It’s Tuesday night in the Valley. You’re hungry, itching for some delightful company, and in dire need of entertainment. You could go to a movie, spend a few hours watching talented performers bring fantasy to life, and maybe end up with a few popcorn kernels permanently wedged between your molars…or you could enjoy the greatest show in all of NoHo. Where do you go?

That’s right! You haul your butt down to Idle Hour for the best quiz in the quizness…KING TRIVIA!

33 teams arrived this balmy evening with a deep and insatiable hunger…for victory. 

The first half of the game was dominated by a massive 10-way tie, with veteran and newbie teams unwilling to let up on those doubles. Suddenly, as the half ended, Bang Bang and We’re the Problem stepped out of the group setting and into a duo at the top of the stack! But the top fifteen teams were still only points apart. 

For our drinking round, we asked our teams devious questions about the global vacation situation. LHS Class of 2014 had the geographical knowledge to knock out the competition and earn the free shots. 

It took another two rounds before Breakfast All Day—back from their long absence—rose into a solitary lead. But the top ten teams were all within 5 points of one another. It was going to be an epic photo finish.
