QUIZ RECAP

Is it Fall yet? Los Angeles isn’t sure, and the temperatures have fluctuated between 98 and 62. But that kind of chaotic weather only emboldens the heroes of the barrel. 25 teams arrived eager to drop some knowledge and win some prizes. 

After a massive ten-way tie, the first half of our game became a neck-and-neck battle between each and every team. Doubles were few and far between, meaning each point held special value. The top three were separated by a single answer each time. Bernie Maximus managed to hold the lead for a short spell, but lost out ground to Union Barbie in Round 4. 

We asked our competitors to help us out with ideas for couples costumes, and Kingbeez had the best concept with a Dill Pickle and a Female Deer (think about it). 

In the latter half of the game, it came down to a few dangerous guesses and a failed double. This wasn’t a high-scoring affair, but it was a nail-biter down to the final tiebreaker round. 

Our winners for the night were Bernie Maximus, Double Stuffed Oreos, and Slow Dance Boners!

QUIZ RECAP

It’s October in Los Angeles, so it’s a balmy 90 degrees and windless. Perfect trivia weather! Welcome to Idle Hour, the greatest show in all of NoHo…and welcome to KING TRIVIA!

26 teams joined us to celebrate the spooky season, earn a little candy, and crush a fistful of questions! 

Furious Jumpers took their lead early with a monstrous double, one of only two teams to have that confidence (next to the indomitable Legally Distinct Branding). Shortly after, Cheryl made a stand and rose into the leaderboard. Though their position was often shaken, they stayed strong all the way through to the end of the game. Silver and Bronze places swapped like Pogs in the late 90s: eagerly and questionably. It was anyone’s game, and these teams knew it. 

For our drinking round, we asked our teams to help the QM get inspiration for a Halloween costume. Drink 182 earned the free shots with a magical home-made Ursula outfit. Iconic as hell. 

Quizzie McGuire managed a sudden rise into second after Round 5, using that massive double jump to scootch passed the competition. But the surprise turn of the game came in Round 6 when Cheryl brought out the big guns (a knowledge of US State Mottos) to steal a narrow lead going into the final round! With a cunning display of patience and craft, they won the night and the (implied) golden crown.

QUIZ RECAP

Big teams with big dreams appeared in our barrel-shaped bastion of trivia and good times. It was the right moment for our weekly joining for the greatest game in all the land…KING TRIVIA!

25 teams arrived with a hunger for victory, but only three would emerge with their names etched in history. We began, as with most shows, with a massive tie at the top. It’s a good way to lull people into a sense of security. Round two was a shock as Bernie Maximus rose into an early lead with an impressive double…a lead they kept for most of the game. But while Emergency Food and Three Cool Boys fought over the silver spot, another team eyed the prize from the back of the pack. 

During our drinking round, Three Cool Boys beat out the competition to snag the shots. However, this liquid courage did little to add to their scorecards. 

In the final half of the game, it was Double Stuffed Oreos with some impressive doubles rising into the leaderboard, followed by an aggressive Drink 182. 

Our winners for the night were Double Stuffed Oreos, Bernie Maximus, and Drink 182.
