With the heat fading and Fall in the air, it seemed like the perfect weather for a trivia storm fo the century! Ring the bell, Quizimodo, it’s time for more King Trivia out at Idle Hour in NoHo!

28 teams joined in battle for the coveted gift cards and free shots, braving the 101 and 405 to arrive into our gridiron. Fueled by the return of the Candy Bucket™, these champions set out to prove their parents wrong and win a pub trivia game!

Round One of course brought a massive tie as these veteran question questers knocked out those easy lay-ups without breaking a sweat. Round Two proved a little more difficult, as apparently few of our teams knew the names of even our most famous Bewitched stars. Yet with this simple round, our leaderboard was forever rent into pieces. Born in the USGay took first place, with Algorithm and Blues close behind in a race to the top.

Round Three presented a Seussian challenge to our heroes, but they charged forward undeterred. With an easier round, the scores moved up but the teams didn’t We’d have to settle our difference down the road with more questions!

Round Four revealed which teams hadn’t done the summer reading, but again didn’t move the dial on the leaderboard! Who was going to unseat the top point hoarders?

As it was National Bald People Appreciation Day (and this QM is a proud follicularly-opposed host) we invited our teams to play a game of “Best Pickup Lines.” With the amazing Carol guest judging, we awarded the free shots (and a hearty slap across the face for being so fresh) to Hooligans!

The winning pickup line? “I know I look like Mr. Clean, but I’m also Mr. Right.”

Round Five went fast and furious, but your couldn’t slip these clues past our quick-witted challengers. In an astounding turn of events, a misplaced double knocked our leader down to 4th place, allowing Algorithm and Blues to leap into first! Not a Car Chase was a point behind in second, and Hooligans nipped at their heels in third.

Round Six kept the points flowing but also kept out teams locked in their respective spots. It was up to the final ten questions to separate the winners from the losers. WHO WOULD IT BE?

As the smoke cleared, we crowned our winners: Algorithm and Blues, Not a Car Chase, and Kingbeez (rising from the ashes in amazing fashion).

HARRY POTTER THEME QUIZ RECAP

Rush on down to Platform 9 3/4 because the train to Hogwarts is about to leave! That’s right, you muggles. It’s Harry Potter time here at Idle Hour, and 21 teams arrived to see if their house would win the day!

With the magic (and butterbeer) flowing free, we began our show. These Potterheads showed their true colors in Round One, throwing down some incredibly niche knowledge for this wizarding world. The Chosen One and 2 Hufflepuffs walk into a bar took an early lead.

Round Two was more of a gut punch to our wonderful wizards, as quite a few double down…only to discover they had been bewitched by a trick question! The scores hardly moved, but Emergency Food: Prisoner of Appetizers leapt into third.

Round Three proved another shocker…for the bottom of the leaderboard at least. The Hollywood Harpies flew up and snatched third place, though that didn’t immediately end the game and award 150 points like some kind of silly sport.

Our Guess Who round caught a few teams off guard, and suddenly the game had its first solo lead: 2 Hufflepuffs walk into a bar! But could they hold their place?

In our drinking round, we challenged these mystical soothsayers to divine the total number of books sold in the HP series (and the worldwide gross of the first movie). After a tense tie-breaker, 2 Hufflepuffs earned free shots of Firewhiskey…but would it be enough to keep their winning streak alive?

Round Five saw Emergency Food reclaim their third place spot. In fact, they were clawing their way higher and higher toward that coveted champion spot!

Round Six challenged our heroes to remember the fates of the fallen throughout the series. While the top two held their ground, For Fawkes Sake rose from the ashes into third place, setting the room ablaze. It was all coming down to the final question.

With their O.W.L’s completed, we were ready to crown our winners. In first place, 2 Hufflepuffs, a Ravenclaw and Slytherin walk into a bar, in second, The Chosen One (literally a single HP superfan), and For Fawkes Sake in third!

The heat might be breaking, but the intensity at Idle Hour knows no such limits. With the tables packed to the brim with eager champions, we set out on an adventure of trivial proportions. That’s right, it’s time for more King Trivia!

14 teams arrived in our barrel of fun for some incredible quizzical action, bolstered by soft pretzels and cold beers. After Round One, Here for the Host (#humblebrag) took the top spot, followed by Jackyboys and the veteran Snark Squad.

Round Two challenged the teams to identify movies featuring prisons. However, our scores hardly changed as these cinephiles rocked this round to pieces.

In our Theme Round, Snark Squad saw an opportunity for a clutch double and leapt into first place, followed by Jackyboys earning second in the Fourth Round. It was quickly becoming a game of musical chairs across our leaderboard.

Our literature-themed Drinking Round took our competitors on a journey through their summer reading lists, but in the end it was Glonk Chomp taking home some free shots!

Round Five left Snark Squad holding their lead, but now second was locked in a 4-way tie with Jackyboys, Rock Lobster, Win or Booze, and Here for the Host!

In Round Six, with an amazing double up, Here for the Host leapt into first place and set up a possible win, but Snark Squad and Rock Lobster weren’t willing to sit by and let this happen unchallenged.

As the final questions tumbled into place, we crowned our winners. Here for Host held the high score, but our leaderboard belonged to Snark Squad, Rock Lobster, and Win or Booze!
