QUIZ RECAP

Spring is in the air…meaning this Quizmaster’s allergies were on FIRE. But neither puffy eyes or stuffy noses can stop the KING from reigning supreme in the barrel kingdom. Welcome to King Trivia at Idle Hour!

29 teams arrived in our quizzical kingdom to serve in the tournament of trivia titans. At stake, three amazing prizes and an extremely satisfying drinking round. But only a few could emerge victorious…who would it be?

Round One pressed our teams to cover the full gamut of trivial knowledge, ending in a five-way tie for supremacy. 

Round Two got the room in the mood for Spring Break as Quiz Kid Donnie Smith took the lead (that they would carry for the rest of the game). 

Round Three began the fight for second as Talk Nerdy to Me and Slippery Knots locked for second. Round Three also saw some amazing pun work regarding talk show hosts and Arson (also arson puns) with Arson-io Hall, Arson Daily, and Johnny Arson. 

Round Four wasn’t too much of a challenge for our intrepid heroes, and allowed Talk Nerdy to creep ever closer to the top spot. 

Our Drinking Round honored National Librarian and National Arraignment Day. Buckin Broncos managed to snag the free shots with their in-depth knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System (or just a lucky guess). 

Round Five dreamed of Californication as Cousins by Choice shot into second, chasing the impossible dream of Quiz Kid. 

Rounds Six and Seven proved the deciders as 3X Reno Champions and Breakfast All Day risked big with a few doubles to vie for the final spots. 

Our winners for the night were Quiz Kid Donnie Smith, 3X Reno Regional Trivia Champs, and Breakfast All Day.

Also, extra special mention to Emergency Food: Wrong Answers Only for sticking to a belated April Fool’s joke and scoring -1. Incredible work.

QUIZ RECAP

Another epic night at Idle Hour. Clear weather, delightful food, and 38 screaming teams eager to make a name for themselves in the gridiron of barrel-shaped battle. 

After an easy tie in Round One, Quiz Team-A Aguilera took an early lead with a solid double on our picture round. 

Round Three took a little theme a long way, opening the doors for Firestarters and Bob-ombs Burgers to jump into a tied second.  

After Round Four passed without incident, we launched into a wild Drinking Round. After several ties, Brewers took home the free shots and hopefully the energy they needed to rise further. But no one could predict what would happen next. 

Round Five proved a worthy challenge for our newbie and veteran teams, but one group was unwilling to let a possible double slip by. With a risky bet, Camp Mohawk launched themselves into first place.

Round Six and Seven were slugfests, but served only to be a battleground for third as Mohawk and Aguilera locked into position. With a final tie-breaker question, Bob-omb took the third place slot and earned their spot in history.

QUIZ RECAP

King Trivia is a lot like the post office. Whether rain or shine, the show must go on. With Los Angeles getting all of its weather for the year out in one go, we threw up some umbrellas and got to work on the greatest game in the land. 

22 teams arrived in our barrel-shaped paradise for amazing food and better trivia with a QM that brings just as much energy as he does free candy. There’s only one way to find a winner, and that’s to play, so we got right down to quizness. 

Round One wasn’t too much of a stumper, but with a gang of mostly new teams there wren’t many willing to risk everything with a double. Ghosted by the Hostess, Here for Host, and Emergency Food: Carrot Cake of Sadness tied in first. 

Round Two really highlighted the quality disparity between the first and second Jurassic trilogies. Emergency Food certainly found a way to leap into first place and prepare for, what would become, a perfect sweep. 

Round Three became the beginning of a race for second and third, with Here for the Host claiming silver and Ghosted in bronze. 

Round Four shifted the lineup a bit as Breakfast All Day shot into third behind Here for the Host, but the scores were neck and neck all the way down to 12th place. 

Our Drinking Round honored National Fragrance Day as we asked our teams to determine the best and worst smells in the world. With a narrow victory, Bribed the Host (in name only) took the free shots!

Round Five was a theater nerd’s dream, and one team came to play. In fact, Emergency Food was the ONLY team to figure out the connection, giving them a clear lead heading into the finals. 

Round Six saw Breakfast knock Here for the Host out of the leaderboard, and Plague of Frogs jumped into a tie for third. After a tense seventh round and a quick tie-breaker, we had our crowns ready. 

Our winners for the night were Emergency Food: Carrot Cake of Sadness, Plague of Frogs, and Breakfast All Day!
