QUIZ RECAP

The day after Valentine’s Day is always tricky, but not when you’ve got a surefire date with King Trivia. 15 teams came to play at Idle Hour for the best show in town, and we surely didn’t disappoint. With seven rounds of trivia, delicious food, and some top shelf tequila, it was a night few could forget. 

We started off as usual with a MASSIVE tie after round one, but quickly this became a scrum for the top spots. Almost every team got a chance to be in a leader position as round after round became a game of musical chairs. However, Tequila Mockingbird soon earned themselves a lead that seemed insurmountable. 

In our Drinking Round, we asked our teams to decide how many Valentine’s were sent in the mail each year. Newcomers Swedish Soda took the free shots, and it seemed to give them the energy to make a come from behind pull into second place!

As with most evenings, it all came down to the last question. We were sticklers for the Italian spelling for Dante’s Divine Comedy, which led to a rise in our final team. Tequila Mockingbird took the top spot, Swedish Soda Group took second, with Agents of the Zeitgeist in third.

QUIZ RECAP

When we say Idle Hour's King Trivia night is standing room only, we mean it. 28 teams arrived in our barrel-shaped battleground with one thing on their mind: total domination. We literally had teams in every section of the house. This QM's dogs were barking by the end, but it was all worth it. 

The opening rounds proved quite challenging, and soon we had a few teams trading the top spot back and forth for the early half of the show. When we reached the drinking round, it almost seemed like Enough to Feed an Army Hammer might sail away with the prize. 

Since today was National Kite Day, we challenged our teams with guessing the earliest written notice of the famed paper and string toy. High Tops, a veteran group of champions, nailed the estimate on the nose and earned a free round of shots!

As we sprinted toward the finish, the leaderboard became a game of musical chairs. Army Hammer fell from grace as Jason B. Gone and Quiz on Your Face threw out some meaty doubles. However, it was the come from behind spirit of Quiz Kid Donnie Smith that shocked the room!

As the final seconds ticked away, Jason B. Gone squeaked out a victory only a point ahead of Quiz Kid Donnie Smith, with Enough to Feed an Army Hammer locking down third.

QUIZ RECAP

Good gravy, what an insane night for King Trivia! 30 teams (no, that's not a typo) showed up to throw down the only way we know how. With seven rounds of trivia and plenty of prizes up for grabs, the game was most defintely afoot. 

After a few rounds of warm up, we actually had a distinct leader in the top position. Still, twenty-nine other groups weren't about to let anyone walk away with the show. By the time the Drinking Round approached, several bitter rivalries had formed. 

Since Groundhog Day was fast approaching, we asked how many days Bill Murray's character was stuck in his time loop (it's longer than you think). With the winner enjoying some well earned drinks, we dove right into the final stretch. 

Kingbeez, no stranger to the top spot, kept batting away Crouching Tiger and Quiz Kids. Meanwhile, Diana Spencer refused to be counted out, throwing down a much-needed double in Round Six. As it usual does, the show came down to the final question.

Since today begins the Year of the Tiger, we asked our teams to name 10 of 12 of the animals on the Chinese Zodiac. Many were able to hit the mark, but only a few were brave enough to double. 

In the end, Diana Spencer's Gifts took the top spot, with Crouching Tiger, Quizzing Dragon and Quiz Kid Donnie Smith right behind. 

You honestly have no excuse to miss out on King Trivia at Idle Hour. This is the best spot in the Valley, the only place to go in NoHo. Come join us any Tuesday at 8pm!
