You’d think a historic heatwave would hold back the crowds from an outdoor trivia show, but you’ve never been to Idle Hour in the summer! 31 teams came out to throw down, drink cool drinks, and win quizzical prices. It’s King Trivia like you’ve never seen it before: wearing shorts because it is frankly too darn warm. 

Round One led to a strong opening start for The Furious Jumpers!, The Bugle, Kingbeez, Joaquin Phreezer, and Drink-182.

Round Two saw the (van) Wild Gators take an early lead, but could this newbie team hold on? Not so much, as they dropped to third in Round Three as Bugle took the top spot. 

Our Drinking Round was a Sommelier testing ground as we asked teams to pair wines with famous cheeses. Stealin my quizz like she gone girl snatched a tie-breaker win for the free shots. 

Round five proved it’s dangerous to quiz alone, so take this…clue. Kingbeez had the video game knowledge to take the lead, with Furious close behind.

Round six went to Furious Jumpers. It was still anyone’s game, with the top ten teams within ten points

It all came down to Round Seven to decide our big winner. With doubles flying and caution thrown to the wind, we tallied the scores. 

We ended the night with a big win. Furious Jumpers, Kingbeez, and Wild Gators!

QUIZ RECAP

Record temperatures and intractable studio execs couldn’t keep the teams away from Idle Hour for another session of the greatest show in all of NoHo…KING TRIVIA! 26 teams braved the sweltering heat to enjoy frozen drinks and…icy thinks? Questions, they came for the questions. 

LET’S GET TO THE SHOW!

Round One was a solid warm up with a 4-way tie at the top: Here for the Host, Bernie Maximus, Buds Lightyear, We’re the problem, it’s us.

Round Two was a massive stumper, with no one risking a double. The points came hard-earned, but Bernie Maximus founds themselves with a small lead. 

Round Three brought things back into true form, with veterans dropping doubles like they were playing hot potato. Bernie extended their lead and looked to be making moves to another sweep. 

Round Four started to shake things up as a cautious play cost Bernie the lead, with We’re the Problem leaping into first. 

Our Drinking Round played the Price is Right with bulk purchases of caviar. With the closest guess by a mile, Kingbeez earned the free shots (and just in time for a birthday!)

Round 5 saw We’re the problem take a massive lead as one of the few teams to put all the pieces together for our Find the Connection. 

But all was not lost for Bernie. With Round Six, they used their combined knowledge of film and television to put a solid double into the scoreboard and close within 6 points of first place. It would all come down to the final round.

We ended the night with a big win. We’re the problem, it’s us, Bernie Maximus, and Antlers Away!

QUIZ RECAP

Summer heat can only be beat with a bowl of tater tots, a cool Frosé, and a heaping spoonful of KING TRIVIA! With 29 teams and the greatest venue in all the land, Idle Hour was alive with energy for another amazing quizzical adventure. 

Tonight was no normal night. This was a demonstration. With Strikemas Eve Part 2 just around the corner, one team pulled out all the stops. It was a Cinderella story for the ages, and well earned by all involved. 

Quiz-Teama Aguilera arrives each week with hope in their eyes and trivia in their heads. Sadly, they’ve often been the bridesmaids and not the brides, leaving with a silver or bronze in their record. It seemed like that top spot was forever out of their reach. 

Or so they thought. 

Tonight, from the jump, they fired on all cylinders. This wasn’t just a showdown; this was a quiz clinic. They dropped doubles, took risky guesses, and never blinked in the face of a crowded leaderboard. By Round 4, they had a steady lead and wouldn’t look back. 

When the dust finally settled, they had an 11-point lead and a gold medal coming their way. It was a cathartic moment, like Frodo and Sam watching the ring finally fade away in the fires of Mount Doom. It was Rudy being carried on his team’s shoulders. It was…whatever the climax is for the English Patient. 

It was a first place victory, long awaited, and deftly earned. 

To honor the most important national holiday—National Cow Appreciation Day—we asked the teams to show us pictures of cows…or cow themes. With the best picture of the bunch, Pussy Pals took the free drinks!

We ended the night with a big win. Quiz-Teama Aguilera, Furious Jumpers, and Not Natalie Portmans!
