The night after Halloween is always tricky. You’re tired from an epic party the evening before, you still have leftover makeup in the corners of your face, and your blood is still 90% sugar. Sounds like the perfect time for a little KING TRIVIA if you asked me!
22 teams wore their Tuesday best for the greatest show in all of NoHo. With seven rounds of intense trivia staring down at them like an angry boulder, they set out to prove they were the best in the land.
Round One was tougher than many were expecting, which led them to hold back on a double even though over ten teams had perfect scores. The four brave teams jumping to the lead were The Hooligans, Algorithm & Blues, Shrub, and Boats n Goats.
Round Two put our teams’ sleuthing skills to the test as they tried to guess the names of famous spokespeople. While most of the guesses were successful, only Algorithm & Blues had the nerve to double and they took a massive jump to the top of the board.
Rounds Three and Four saw Algorithm hold their lead, but Kingbeez and Quiz Kid Donnie Smith rocketed to a tie at second and third moments later! It was shaping up to be a tighter game than any had predicted.
For our Drinking Round, we celebrated National Author Day and had our teams give us 6-word stories Ala Hemingway. You can read them all below!
Warning. Low flying Owl. Lost Chihuahua.
Worst of Tim has no Tim.
The last human. The door knocked.
I woke up and chose violence.
They came, they saw, they conquered (they plagiarized).
Girls play alone, don’t know Himalayas.
Bald man, big voice, very attractive (QM’s obvious favorite).
Heidi Klum was a freaking worm!
Ambience is here, let’s drink beer. (Bonus points for rhyme)
Tainted dinner, perilous flow, not Shirley.
Trivia King chooses guitar losers team (a bit inside baseball)
Help, I’ve fallen and I can’t…
They came, they guessed, they won.
What is the point of today (existentially terrifying!)
Our winners, The Bugle, also had to break a tie by guessing the correct date from National Author’s Day, securing their free shots.
Round Five saw Quiz Kid Donnie Smith edge closer and closer to that top spot. It was growing into a slugfest!
Round Six was the great shakeup, as Hot Diggity Dog came out of nowhere to leap into first place, only one point away from Algorithm & Blues and just a few above Quiz Kid. Kingbeez slipped into fourth and needed a massive boost to get back into it.
Our final round was all about Tarantino, and there were a few fans in the house! Numerous teams got perfect scores…but only a few were brave enough to double.
Our winners were Hot Diggity Dog, Quiz Kid Donnie Smith, and Algorithm & Blues!

Fall has finally arrived in Los Angeles! Granted, that only means we’re down to the seventies, but it was enough to bring out the winter coats as Angelinos flooded the streets of NoHo with only one goal in mind…TRIVIA! That’s right, party people, it’s trivia night at Idle Hour.
21 teams joined our barrel-shaped haven to enter into fierce quizzical combat. While their tastebuds were delighted by the delicious food, their brains were on fire from a never-ending onslaught of questions.
Round One led to an absolutely massive tie at the top of the board, and was truly humbling for many teams that THOUGHT they remembered math.
Round Two inspired a number of teams to watch American Horror Story, although that realization was far too late to help them in this moment. Two for Tea used the confusion to leap ahead into first, with Dynamic Duo and Emergency Food locking in a tie for second and third.
Round Three had our teams comparing apples and oranges, which is something most city leader warn against! It was a straightforward round that offered the chance to advance…but were our teams too stunned to take advantage? As it turns out, Emergency Food and Dynamic Duo were both still in it to win it, and they unseated Two for Tea to take first place.
In Round Four, Emergency Food proved they were bigger Rush Hour fans than anyone else, securing the top spot all to themselves. It was the best of times, it was the worst of Tim took second, and Dynamic Duo slinked back to third.
Our drinking round was all about greasy foods, and we had our teams share photos from their most decadent meals. With a deep friend pork butt and an intimate knowledge of deep fried Oreos, Tequila Tots earned their free shots!
Round Five was a furious rush of questions and connections, and the teams were eager to earn those sweet double points. In a stunning turn, Camp Mohawk launched into first place, followed by Emergency Food and The Worst of Tim!
Round Six was as tight as they come, with both of our top two teams earning perfect scores…but not doubling down! It would come down to the last question in Round Seven to decide our winner.
As the dust settled and a tie was broken, we crowned Camp Mohawk as two-time winners, Emergency Food in second, and Kingbeez in third.

Another wild and crazy night of King Trivia at Idle Hour this fine Tuesday. While the temperatures were a little on the higher side, so was the atmosphere as we welcome 25 teams into our barrel-shaped battlefield.
Round One opened with a few easy questions to get the ol’ juices flowing. This of course led to a massive 9-way tie that would take all of one round to disperse.
In Round Two, our teams’ lack of knowledge regarding the honorifics of England left the champs scrambling…and a few doubles came up empty! Two teams, however, rose to the top: O-trivia Wilde and Trivial Pursuers!
These two champs managed to hold their own through Round Three as the storms raged around them (trivially speaking), but Round Four saw a shock to the system as O-Trivia Wilde took the lead! We also saw a four-way tie for thirds with Trivial Pursuers, Know Nothing Newbies, Cabot Cove’s Ghost, and Murder Hornets.
In our drinking round, we paid homage to the most revered of national holidays, National Leggings Day! With a killer guess, Benis Palls took the free shots!
Round Five proved a lesser challenge to these savvy soldiers of sleuthing. Scores rose like the tide, leading to a sudden tie at the top by Cabot Cove’s Ghost and Murder Hornets.
Then in Round Six, our vain vagabonds shifted the scores again with some inconsistent doubling, leading to a new tie at the top: Murder Hornets and Camp Mohawk.
As the final scores were tallied following a harrowing Round Seven, we still had one final tie-breaker to win. With a spot on guess, O-Trivia Wilde took third place, led by Murder Hornets and Camp Mohawk.
