QUIZ RECAP

After a day of polishing off BBQ leftovers, there’s only one way to truly celebrate: King Trivia at Idle Hour in NoHo! Teams from all across the city sojourned to our barrel-shaped oasis for libations, fine eats, and intense quizzical action. 

17 teams joined the fray for a post-food binge trivia sesh, and boy were they ready to get down to quizness. Round 1 saw a calmer, more cautious group of teams, with only Here for the Host and Tater Bots dropping that double. 

In Round 2, Here for the Host jumped to number one, with I’m So Confused and Kingbeez rocking a tie in third. 

In our drinking round, we asked the teams to figure out how many hotdogs were consumed on July 4th, 2020. With a spot on guess, Squadron of Moles took the free shots and earned some new enemies. 

Round 5 brought a fearsome new energy from out competitors. This wasn’t going to be a runaway game for anyone. Tater Bots stepped into the top spot, followed by Squadron of Moles and Kingbeez. In fact, the entire top ten board was off by only a point each!

Kingbeez climbed into second place after Squadron missed on a double, and Diana Spencers Gifts took third, setting up for a major showdown in the final round. Who would take it all?

After an amazing DOUBLE TIE-BREAKER, we crowned our winners. Tater Bots took the top spot, Kingbeez earned second, and Diana Spencer’s Gifts locked in third. Squadron of Moles earned stickers for their near-win!

MARVEL VOL. 1 THEMED EVENT RECAP

Trivia-vengers…ASSEMBLE! It’s an MCU-themed night here at Idle Hour, and we’ve got the best show in town. 17 teams arrived to share their marvelous knowledge, trying to prove that they were incredible, amazing, and the ultimate champions of their universe. 

In round one, two teams landed perfect scores…but only one was brave enough to make the risky play. Agents of the Zeitgeist of Shield took the lead, with Snowflake safely in second. With our nemeses established, it was time to continue the show. 

Round two saw a new age arise as ThirstyForThanos snapped into second place. This was turning into a regular two-parter! Who would take home the might Mjolner?

Round 4 was a little easy as Mjolnir was literally sitting on the table in front of the QM, so we went into he drinking round with a little less fanfare. But teams were asked to decide how many cameos the late great Stan Lee had across all Marvel movies, TV shows, and video games (including outside the MCU). Agents of the Zeitgeist of Shield took the free drinks…and the evil eye of every team in the bar. 

In round five, Snowflame leapt to the top of the pile with a CLUTCH double, taking the lead away from the Agents. It was now a 1 point game!

Round six saw another shakeup as ThirstyForThanos tied Agents for second place, only points behind Snowflame. It would all come down to the final round…but who was worthy to raise the might hammer? Would our heroes arrive in time?

As the dust settled and the villains spread like ashes in the wind, we crowned our victors. After and incredible double tie-breaker, Agents of the Zeitgeist of Shield took first, ThirstyForThanos took second, and Snowflame earned third. 

QUIZ RECAP

One hundred degree weather couldn’t keep our teams away as dozens of folks flooded the barrel-shaped haven of Idle Hour for the best show in town: King Trivia! 30 teams arrived for a fierce competition, and they were not disappointed. 

We started off with a first for the Idle Hour crowd. In Round One, NOBODY risked a double! We have 5 teams knock it out with perfect scores, but couldn’t drum up the courage to risk it for the biscuit. 

In Round Two, perhaps due to the public shaming this QM delivered, several teams took the plunge and suddenly we had a real game on our hands. Quiz Kid Donnie Smith and Algorithm and Blues took the top spots, but with most of the board right behind them. 

Round Three proved another challenge, but Algorithm and Blues used the confusion to leap ahead, taking the top spot. Shortly after, Half the Herd crept into second with Martha Meatballs in third. 

Our Drinking Round asked the teams to come up with trivia for one of our greatest folk heros: Paul Bunyan! After a quick tie breaker, F45ers earned a free round!

Our leaderboard stayed true all the way through Round 5! But then…UPSET!

Half the Herd jumped into the top spot, followed by Diana Spencer’s Gifts, and a tied Algorithm and Blues and Quiz Lightyear. What could happen next? ANOTHER UPSET!

After the final round, Spider-Friendz took third, Little Miss Nadine (birthday girl) took second, and Half the Herd leapfrogged into first.
