Welcome to newcomer players Jen’s Team and Blood, Bath and Beyond (A place I know I’d want to go shopping at! – I wonder if they have coupons?)! Regulars Ninja Turtles, IFFY!, Beer Logic and Ship It! showed the newbies how it was done. Usual champs Ninja Turtles snagged the top prize while Ship It! fought hard for second place and Blood, Bath and Beyond took Third. And now, a word about defunct millennial TV shows…
A trivia question in pubs and bars
About the cancelled Veronica Mars
Was summarily botched
Because none ever watched
Except one gal who kept brains in jars!
Until next Thursday, I remain… Loyally… Yours!
Quizmaster Lou
And lo, though t’were a slow night at the little pub called Lion & Crown, yea verily dids’t the people come therein. For Lion & Crown was beknownst throughout the shire as host to the King Trivia Pub Quiz; Wherein, dids’t the people come to eat, and drink and play trivia.
But on this night, though there be nor rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night (for the moon shone brightly), yet; There was dread upon the air! Wot dread this be, none can say for twas not the dread of plague, nor war, nor ‘een the dread of frightful computer viruses… T’were some, unnamable, intangible dread whose ephemeral fingers settled like a soft, silk sheet fluffed upon the air, then lit softly o’er the scene to fill the soul with apprehension… Or, it could be that folks just stayed at home that night. Don’t know. Can’t say. Just a feeling.
E’en so, when only four regular teams appeared, the Quiz Meister did beat about the land, mongering for players. So pitiable was he that the publicans, Derek the Mighty and Nicholas the Serious formed their own team, (Da Bar) and threw their gauntlet upon the list! And so the die was cast and Round One was just about to start when… In they walked! A lovely couple. Bright, full of promise and optimism! “Can we play?” they humbly begged. Quiz Meister Llewellyn, emboldened and empowered by their fortuitous entrance asked, “What’s your team called?” The lad looked lovingly at his nubile companion and asked, “What do we call our team?” And the lovely lass spake saying, “Pick a name. I don’t care.” And her man, seizing the day proclaimed, “Pick a Name – I Don’t Care!”
And so, the new comers, thus baptized Pick a Name – I Don’t Care!, eschewing the registry of Triviahood and sacrificing their two point bonus, went on to grab Third Place! And lo, the dread was lifted, the patrons returned and the people rejoiced! And they all lived happily ever after… Until the following Thursday…

Double or Nothing! Blessing or Curse? That may have been the philosophical question that plagued players on Thursday night’s King Trivia Pub Quiz game at the Lion & Crown Pub. The race for first place was between usual champs the Ninja Turtles and ascending stars Pickles on a Plate, with the Turtles gaining the lead in Round Two with the aforementioned Double or Nothing ploy. Following suit, Pickles Doubled or Nothing their way past the Turtles in Round Five and maintained it to grab First Place! Ninja Turtles got Second and Stealth Texas snuck in a double or nothing in Round Six netting Third Place!
IFFY!, not ones to sit idly by while scoring is going on, double or nothinged their way to last place, with enthusiasm and aplomb. So too, Beer Logic and Ship It!. I guess the maxim is, there’s no shame in having the lowest score since there ain’t no fourth place prize!
Special mention to Finding Theon for best improved score and a hearty welcome to R.O.U. S. (if you’re a fan of Princess Bride, you what I’m talking about) for a spirited and well played game. All righty, then! Until next week, I remain… Humbly yours… Quizmaster Lou.
