The Lion & Crown Pub, an English-style pub with a large and varied menu, is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. serving lunch, dinner and daily specials. The pub also offers a wide selection of fine wines and 38 beers on tap. Guests can watch sporting events on one of the many large TV screens or enjoy a nice night out on the patio. Different drink specials are available every day and live music on Friday and Saturday.

Wow!  I didn’t know we had so many scientists in this pub!!!  Items of interest:  Teams Ninja Turtles and Pickles on a Plate took first and second prizes. Both are green.  Discuss.  You can bet Double or Nothing but you can’t bet Nothing or Double.  (Although I once sat at a roulette wheel and kept all my money…)  You can break a tie and you can tie a knot, but you can’t break a knot.  Welcome to new comers The Three Musketeers (who were one for all and all for two points by registering their team) and The Einstein’s (who discovered that while space was curved, they were square – I kid!  I kid…).  Woof!  Big brains…  Big, fifty pound brains…

Rollicking!  Boisterous!  Competitive!  Exciting!  (Hey, throw in some adjectives of your own here!)  This Thursday’s Pub Quiz was remarkable for two reasons.  One, the increase of teams and participants and two, the number of Double or Nothing gambles that drove scores higher than this particular Quiz Master has seen, I can tell you!  Quiz Master Lou reporting here.  Well, as those of you who follow this column can attest, our resident champs, The Ninja Turtles, usually come out on top and this Thursday was no exception, but the evening did not start off that way!  Ten teams played last night’s game and to show how aggressive the gamesmanship was, we had a four-way tie for first place through Round Two!  Without giving anything away, sports questions are a big part of King Trivia Pub Quiz and in Texas, football is king!  That’s why I was amazed, but not surprised, that nine out of ten teams went Double or Nothing on Round Two and eight or them succeeded!  But wait!  That’s not all!  Three teams went DoN on Round Three and won!  Five teams went DoN on Round five and four won!  !!!  Stealth Texas consistently held the lead until Round Five, making Ninja Turtles chase after all night long and newcomer Los Vatos valiantly held the third position until the upset in Round Six.  Finals:  Ninja Turtles, Los Vatos and Stealth Texas.  A big Lion & Crown welcome to new teams Los Vatos, Finding Theon and The RÖntgen Squad.  Welcome back to regulars, Pickles on a Plate (who, so disgraced on their score in Round Six, renamed themselves P**p on a Plate for one round!), Beer Logic, Ship It!, Teachers on Vacay and those rowdy seniors from Ohio, Iffy (I swear I’m gonna have to call the bouncer on you guys!  You know who you are!)  As always, I remain, loyally yours…  Until next week, Pub Quizzers!

Welcome to new teams Iffy and Bumble Bee Bandits, who joined in the fun at the Lion & Crown Pub at Watter’s Creek in Allen, TX this Thursday.  Returning teams Pickles on a Plate, Beer Logic, Teachers on Vacay and Rogue One as well as the mysterious and knowledgeable Stealth Texas all jockeyed for the win, but it was local champions Ninja Turtles who, as is their reigning quality, took home first place.  But not without a fight!  The action got hot and heavy on Round Two when Ninja Turtles and Rogue One tied for the lead with both teams executing a successful  Double or Nothing win!  It was also a night of glorious defeats as Iffy and Stealth Texas went down in flames when they gambled on Double or Nothing in Rounds three and five respectively!  All in all, everyone was chasing the green ones for the rest of the night, but a great time was had by all.  Until next week…
