A chilly night yet we were warm and toasty inside the back private section at the Recess Room. Welcome to newbies Kasey and Braden of the Fun Husky Team. Great to have back returning teams Uffda, Implications, Thirsty Pretzels and Highway Star with Bring Your Folks to Trivia night- fun folks!
Round 1's fun facts of General Knowledge involved The Masters, CNN, Sassafras, Pizza Hut, Rockstar and Oolong. Take a guess what the questions were for those answers! (Quizmaster Reverse Psychology 101)
Round 2 was picture round of 'Who's Gonna Play the Bill?' which was a fun challenge for theatre patrons and former venue ushers. Everyone guessed Alladdin. Love that Genie in a Bottle!
Round 3 with Purple People Eatery about purple things or predatory animals was 6 questions with movie and TV clues plus sport team owner knowledge.
Round 4 with Guess Who was crazy facts about Adam Devine. This actor has survived a crazy childhood accident to shine bright plus be featured as our Guess Who game.
Round 5 with Find The Connection was Greek to others but our trivia lovers are smart cookies who do not crumble over questions. Bravo for a well played round.
Round 6's handout of You're Gonna Hear Me Roar was barnyard fun of us taking this game one step beyond in the answer time with singing the song titles. Trivia Karaoke time!
Round 7 was the two questions for the Blood Simple entitled round of knowing blood types plus 6 simple machines (aka tools and mechanical things since the cave man days). It was a great way to end a busy day for most of us. My day started with a laugh of receiving this funny imitation selfie of my grandson imitating Grammy Chambers. Kids keep us young and trivia at the Recess Room keeps us playful. See you next week!!
We love all the trivia fans who celebrated Wednesday with us at the Recess Room. Was it just me or was Knock On Wood team growing by the hour?! 7 players! Shades of the Implications who are usually a big group yet at least there were 4 tonight representing the crew.
Welcome back to our faithful returning teams and a special welcome to new team Ebony and Ivory from HB. Thank you to the staff for another tasty thirst quenching delightful night.
Round 1 of General knowledge was facts about $20 bills, seas, MLB, sphinx, Australia and Helen Keller.
Round 2 picture round was 'Trashes 2 trashes- dust 2 dust' with name the fictional custodial worker with an assortment of famous cleaners from TV land and beyond.
Round 3 was Bippity-Boppity-Boat with all questions about fairies and ferries. Shakespeare fans fared well. Funny answer about the pink fairy's name of the armoured creature's smallest breed.
Round 4 Guess Who was eventually successful for all familiar with the gorgeous actress from The Mask of Zorro.
Round 5 -Find The Connection stumped everyone. Close answers but not the winner winner chicken dinner! Kiss my grits said Alice!
Round 6 Handout of Where Sits The Throne was a double or nothing success for 5 of the 7 teams. Oh but two took the toll of the round truth with no points yet A for effort in any quizmaster's heart. Good try!
Round 7 is our honor system old fashion school method of self grading. What a trustworthy room. By 9pm with 7 teams and 10 answers in non alphabetical order - well it is all hands on deck. It was the Chocolate Reign of which 10 countries eat the most chocolate. Europe sure has quite a sweet tooth and hopefully enough dentists! Till next week. Stay curious!
Well the Recess Room sent us out to the parking lot to play under the Big Tent. I was the ringleader of the circus getting settled in to our new arena complete with an awesome long stylish rectangle glass beads fire strip table to warm us on this balmy spring evening.
Today was four familiar teams plus two veteran teams returning. Full house of 22 players amongst 6 teams.
The Church members of Quizentology sat up front with Bill and his bevy of brainiacs -Kyle, Jamie, Jennifer, Leigh and Diana. Lots of laughs coming in as honourable mention tonight.
New faces but long time local players Kristen and Nick of Win Or Lose We Still Booze came in 4th place but left before the end as it is a school night. Hope you return or we will send out the truant patrol to find you! I know where you both work. 🙂
Knock On Wood from nearby Newport Beach were glad to find a local spot doing trivia. The Recess Room has been tremendous supporters of King Trivia during this pandemic pause and we are honoured for their patronage!
Knock on Wood announced that of the two couples as teammates, the men are brothers. One of the couples recently got engaged. Congratulations!
The Implications team liked the team logo I created for them on their personalized mini chalkboard table reserve sign that I made for each team. X marks the spot for this rambacous young chatty team of longtime friends, siblings and couples. Next week is musicial chairs with seat arrangements as one pair of siblings need more elbow room. My school lunch lady duty skills live on! Keeping the peace! Might have to bring the fire extinguish even as this team is on fire with their energy!
Ava's Minions with just the lovely romantic duo of Yvonne and Brian were flying solo without their wingwoman daughter to run the trivia input controls. They did well still by coming in 2nd place.
Home Team aka Highway Star Keit is still in the lead for another first place night. The Implications were fishing to see afterwards if he would join them next week. I chimed in and said "That can be arranged. We can pimp him out!" Keep 'em laughing!
In Round 1 we learned about Manga, US geography, # of years on Esty to be vintage plus the German brewery making beer since 1040. Who knew?!
Round Two Picture Round of Mantle Pieces was identifying famous awards. A mix of theatrical, cinematic, athletic, global and military awards. (Oscar was designed by an Irishman. Time for a shot if this Irish Queen Quizmistress does a music or Irish reference! Slainte! Cheers!)
Round 3 was Up the Down Staircase. All questions about either artist MC Escher or movies about teaching. (Check out my instagram @emeraldlorraine to see my holiday punk sticker version of an Escher picture.) Speaking of Christmas, my Spotify playlist during trivia had a Christmas song on it which the Implications starting singing along to. Thank you Mariah Carey! Fellow Holiday fans!
So near June 25th at the Halfway To Christmas marker we will have our belated Ugly Holiday outfit night which the December lockdown took from us. In case of warm weather, holiday Hawaiian shirts will suffice. Ho ho holidays early fun with holiday cookies and tunes. Bring out the spicy apple cider and rum!
On to Round 4 Guess Where? Google The Chechahcoos movie, Tenada, German Explorer Ferdinand von Wrangel and Dall sheep then you might figure out the answer. You have to play and be here to know all the inside scoop!
Round 5. (I was so busy with trivia that I had to take home my food tonight! It was delicious even with a reheat. Love the bone marrow burger and fries!) Find the Connection....don't you love board game pieces name games! You have to be here to get it.
Round 6 was Rafter-Effects with matching pro sport teams to the player whose # was retired. I had a Dennis Rodman story to share but half the room already had heard my story of sharing the Harp Inn comedy stage in 2019 with the Rodman. He is a good singer too. He used to shop at Tower Records Costa Mesa when I worked there.
Round 7 of Fresh From The Oven brought out the bakers in the room. The quest was to name the exact 10 ingredients for the Betty Crocker's Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies! There was promises to bring in their batches next week. I will bring the milk and mugs for those cookies!!
