Tonight I was hearing feedback that didn't exist and saw a shrimp in my beer foam (picture included). Thank you all for coming to play and making me feel loved although clearly I'm becoming senile.
The Eaters came in to play for the first time. Although they didn't do so hot in comparison to everyone else, eat they did! They won a free Recess Room appetizer for being the first team to figure out Rihanna was our Guess Who? person.
Crazy Poor Asians barely made it into the first round, taking home $10 in Recess Room money. Knock on Wood had a double-down mishap in Round 5, but utilized Rounds 3 and 5 as a mulligan, and secured their $20 winnings. Thirsty Pretzels had extra help tonight, and their tidbits of knowledge on ad-letes, car makes, and movie locations brought up the $40 first place prize.
I tried to invoke Rule 3: The Quizmaster Is Always Right in regards to the Cubs supposed to be winning tonight's 13-inning game. But the Rockies don't like to play by my rules. -100 points to them.

Came back from skydiving in one, not-flat, exhilarated piece, and was happy to spend a quiet night in the back room with some of my favorite trivia fans (despite the bar being super packed!).
Knock on Wood held a brief, yet glorious one-point lead for the first round, but ultimately wound up in third place by game's end. They didn't double down on Round 6, because it would just be so unfair to everyone else who didn't know their fictional mice. Their humility potentially cost them the second place title (maybe even first), but at least they still got to go home with second place winnings!
The Home Team, second place only by score, risked relinquishing his nerd crown, as he was ONLY 99% sure about Professor X by the first clue in our Guess Who? round and 100% sure by the second clue. He was still the first one to guess correctly and reward himself with a free appetizer for it, but it's the principle of the matter. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME.
Thirsty Pretzels dominated yet again, this time without any double-downs, but still sweeping the Philadelphia connection and Heisman winner rounds like it was no big deal. Glory to you guys -- your $40 winnings in Recess Room currency was much deserved!

Our super sinful King Trivia players would've made the devil proud tonight! Everyone at the Recess Room was totally envious of how much fun all the cool kids were having in the back.
"The Worst" deliberately wanted to live up to their namesake, as they came in fifth place. Such a very sloth-like attitude, but hey, they're still the best in my heart!
New players Oasis got greedy with points toward the end of the game, and I threw them a bone for having a variation of one of the seven deadly sins so they could get at least one round completely correct. (Fortunately for them, I am a kind and generous Quizmaster.) And even though they came in fourth, they still got to go home with the third place prize! (Fortunately for them, the Recess Room has a kind and generous manager.)
Knock on Wood was a little angry at themselves for not waiting until the fourth Guess Who? clue, where then became completely obvious that I was thinking of future husband Mark Cuban tonight, not Bill Gates, or Steve Jobs, or Steve Wozniak. But to be fair, they still went home with the second place prize, so things weren't all that bad.
The Big Cheater (finally, he admits it!!!) was the epitome of pride tonight, as he, ALL BY HIMSELF, took on the Thirsty Pretzels during the tiebreaker round. I'd like to think he donated his winnings to another team out of the goodness of his heart, but there was probably a bit of humble-bragging involved as well.
In the end, it was the Thirsty Pretzels who were our gluttonous winners, as not only did they get to go home with the first place winnings, even after a double-down mishap in Round 3, they were the first team to correctly guess that Mark Cuban was our Guess Who? dude, which means they ALSO got a free appetizer, courtesy of the Recess Room. They might as well just eat here for the rest of their lives, since it winds up being so inexpensive for them!
And as for your Quizmaster... well, she just thinks you're all so damn sexy! Giggity! 😉
