What an epic night! Thirsty Pretzels pulled a [reference from any gory "Game of Thrones" scene of your choosing] by doubling down on the last three rounds! This may have been their best night; if they had also doubled down on their astronomy and babies, it definitely would have been their best night. So yes, they earned their $40 winnings, but not after some serious judgment was passed -- they're experts on Real Housewives but NOT Tolkien lore for some reason? No one ever would have guessed.
Knock on Wood and The Implication, despite being equally well-versed in general knowledge and Olympian homelands, still had to go head to head on a tiebreaker question for being too equally well-versed overall. Knock on Wood was 3,000 Michigan Stadium seats closer in their guess, so a $20 gift card was rightfully theirs.
Not all hope was lost for our dear Home Team, who won a free appetizer for knowing more about Captain Marvel than The Implication or Knock on Wood (and turning Round 4 in only a few seconds before Thirsty Pretzels). Maybe this makes up for not winning the King Trivia Marvel-themed event this past weekend! No? Eh, well, take what you can get, friend.

Tonight proved great for King Trivia players who watch mediocre movies and listen to mediocre music. Fortunately/Unfortunately (however you choose to look at it), none of you met that criteria, but it still made for a crazy race to the finish line.
Double downs were in full swing, but our only success stories went to Daddy Down for knowing their Lego figurines, and to Thirsty Pretzels for having an impressive knowledge of their "E" member states. The Implication knew all their wish/curse films in a brand new, super fun name-that-film round, but found their own special curse in double-down mishaps regarding Lego figurines, ball connections, and "E" member states. Knock On Wood, back from a long Recess Room hiatus, never had a double-down mishap, but still couldn't place one damn featured artist to their DJ Khaled song. Considering The Implication did the best on Round 6 with only four points, it wasn't a whole lot to be embarrassed about, though.
Home Team and Knock On Wood had to fight for the third place title by having to guess how long the original run time of The Godfather Part II was in seconds (12,120). In a pretty close call, Home Team had the closest guess with 9,000, just beating Knock On Wood by 1,500 points! But Home Team is a kind and generous manager, so Knock On Wood still got to take home the third place prize in spite of it all. Not a bad way to kick off their epic return!
Thirsty Pretzels was the ultimate champion, snatching Daddy Down's victory away at the very last minute by two measly points, and getting hooked up with some free food for being the first team to figure out the Grand Canyon was our "Guess Where?" of the week. We're still not worthy of your carb-filled saltiness!

In the fight for the top prize of $40 in Recess Room goodies, it was Smart Team vs. Smart Team vs. Smart Team vs. Smart Team. There was no telling who was going to be the ultimate champion!
In one corner, we had the return of Three Men + One, who put a lot of faith in a Round 7 Hail Mary, only to be betrayed by Sweden. In another corner was Home Team, who graciously donated his third place winnings, and had to swallow his pride for being nerdy, but not SO nerdy that he was confident in all of Round 6's castles (just 9 out of 10).
In a third corner, we had The Implication, who kept tying with two other teams three rounds in a row, but couldn't quite break out into the lead. But to the relief of many, they earned their second place winnings fair and square -- by ONE lousy point! -- but fair and square nonetheless.
In the fourth corner was Thirsty Pretzels, who, after spending one round in third place, decided they were done screwing around -- THE GAME WAS ON. Though double downs were just out of their reach the entire game, they got free food for being the first team to correctly guess Las Vegas as our place of the week, as well as taking home the first place prize for [just barely] knowing more about pasta/Africa and castles than anyone else.
And as if I wasn't already having a phenomenal night with my favorite trivia teams, the Yankees had an embarrassing loss to the Astros, in an effort to once again enforce Quizmaster Rule #3. YUSSSS!
