Tonight was a good night for... well, anyone on Daddy Down's team! They doubled down on their general knowledge, shooting themselves straight into first place. The stakes were high in Round 6, as we all know Home Team is the video game guru. He quickly and correctly doubled down in an attempt to take the lead away, but Daddy Down was surprisingly on the same level! They also doubled down on their video game names, and from there on out, King Trivia winners were pretty much set in stone.
The Implication wasn't as strong as they were last week -- they doubled down on their general knowledge but were betrayed by Nancy Reagan, and barely didn't know enough to double down on video game names. But as free-appetizer-round-winner Home Team graciously donated his second place winnings for karma points, The Implication got to go home with a $20 Recess Room gift card.
Home Team's generosity also meant Thirsty Pretzels, despite having a second rough week in a row, still got to split a $10 gift card, despite not doing so hot on Bill Murray movies, spine sections, or lab equipment. (Where IS your doctor friend when you need him?)
Stark returned for the second week in a row to try King Trivia from the very beginning. They still came in last place, but did do drastically better than last week. So logic dictates they will do even better when they come back next week! Here's hopin'!

You ever have one of those nights where you double down on everything you're not supposed to, and don't double down on every round you were supposed to? That didn't happen to The Implication tonight, but everyone else was caught up in that mess.
Stark were brand new to the game and came in on the third round, so their double-down demise was inevitable. And yet, if they show up on time next week and bring in reinforcements, I'm sure they'd cause quite an upset. The night was a bit rougher for King Trivia connoisseurs Thirsty Pretzels, who were betrayed by that tempting double-down box in their T 'n' T and Box Office Heavyweights rounds, and let a double-down opportunity pass by during the sitcom bosses round.
Although they didn't double-down on TV bosses or general knowledge, and were also duped by the T-themed round, Knock on Wood still had particularly good night, taking home a $10 Recess Room gift card AND a free appetizer for being the first team to correct figure out that The Phantom of the Opera was our Guess Who? dude of the night.
Highway Stars, who had a successful T 'n' T double-down, but not-so-successful sitcom bosses double-down, still went home with a $20 gift card. (My theory is that they didn't get first place because Home Team joined their team after being so tired of losing all the time. For all we know, he's probably hexed.)
It was, however, one hell of a good night for The Implication, who came in first place for the first time in what felt like forever. Once they earned 30 points just in the first two rounds, they practically had it made. They earned that $40 prize tonight -- kudos to you guys!
It was a near full measles-free house, where only the fun was infectious!
King Trivia virgins Titans gave it a good shot on their first go, with a reminder that the more they come in to play, the better they'll end up doing in the long run. That's not a ploy just to keep bringing customers back, it's a fact! Some of the questions, even though they were fun, were stumping even our Tournament of Champions runner-ups, so hopefully Titans will come check back in on an easier week.
Knock on Wood was a tad too bold doubling down on their professional sports, making it difficult to come back. They even threw a Hail Mary on Jesus' apostles, but to no avail. That heathen Home Team also bombed at his apostles knowledge, but who cares about THAT when your head is full of Old Faithful knowledge! He got a free appetizer for being the first team to correctly Guess Where? tonight, so everything worked out.
The real fun came down between The Implication, Thirsty Pretzels, and Daddy Down. The Implication was one palindrome connection point and one musical setting point away from taking Daddy Down's second place prize away, while Thirsty Pretzels had to work extra hard to break out of a tie with Daddy Down for their first place ranking. So I guess I wasn't the only one with Daddy issues tonight.
