The good news: Everyone's beers stayed cold for longer than usual! The bad news: We were out on the patio with only a couple heaters to share. The good news still: We had a grand ol' time playing King Trivia with some easier than usual questions!
The Worst was the worst at being the worst. Because their daughter was probably the best, they ended up being second-worst, with the Home Team bringing up the rear in points. Thirsty Pretzels certainly didn't do their worst, but not doubling down when they should have and doubling down when they shouldn't have in the same game was definitely the cause of their fourth place ranking.
Daddy Down finally sucked it up and registered their team name, which brought them soooooo close to second place, but not enough to knock Knock on Wood. The Implication had extra manpower that secured their first place winnings, the perfect addition to the free appetizer they won for being the first team to figure out Apollo was our Guess Who? of the night.
Happy Election Day, King Trivia players! I hope all the things you voted for passed, and all the people you voted for won their spots. Bonus points were showered on each team that voted, and extra for each team member wearing an "I Voted" sticker. Not a bad way to be rewarded for doing your civic duty!
There were no superhero or comic book questions, so Home Team had a humbling last-place finish (he was overdue for one anyway). Everyone else was duking it out for their Recess Room gift cards, and boy, was it close!
Knock On Wood! knew their rivers, easily pronounced body parts, and dirty liars, and took home the third place winnings. The Implication were doing phenomenally, until Daddy Down [after chickening out two other times prior] FINALLY doubled down in the last round, taking home the second place prize and booting The Implication to fourth place by two lousy points! Thirsty Pretzels came in first place, hot and salty, deliberately not doubling down on a couple rounds just to give the others some goddamn hope, but holding a comfortable lead pretty much all night.
I got chills getting to share the Recess Room with so many trivia-loving boys and ghouls tonight -- some of you even dressed up, so spirit points to you!
Most everyone knew their ghosts and haunted places, though Eli Roth stumped half of you -- Tarantino was still a good guess, though!
Implications came ready to boogey, taking home the third place prize for their ghost knowledge. Knock on Wood was duped in the Guess Who? round (though Tarantino was a good guess!), but they still pulled into second place thanks to their haunted place and random spooky trivia knowledge. But everyone would have rather gone up against Freddy, Chucky, or Leatherface than face 3 Men + 1's brutal slaughtering! Not only did they double-down on their ghosts, but they were also super confident on their general knowledge, haunted places, and Stephen King novels. The first place prize, and all the gory glory, goes to them!
Another big happy 25th birthday to the "legend" himself, Jason! (The Superman, not the masked murderer.) Rent ALL the cars, buddy!
