It was a full house! The perfect time to meet with friends for brussel sprouts, spicy Thai fries, chocolate tarts, cold beer, and relatively easy trivia -- all in a warm room people up north would have killed to have.
Tutoring Club and Tommy went head-to-head to see which team of coworkers was smarter than the other -- which may very well have been Tommy, if they didn't have a double-down oopsie daisy on their prep school book titles, losing to Tutoring Club by seven points. Team Whaaa!? also missed out on a double-down in Round 1, which would have tied them with tonight's dynamic Knock On Wood duo.
Thirsty Pretzels were so close to doubling down on so many rounds, but they had just enough rapper, silent letter, Peter Pan, and book title knowledge to take home a free appetizer and $10 in Recess Room gift cards! The Band Is Back Together also did excellent (on all things not Peter Pan) enough to take home a $20 Recess Room gift card, but ultimately succumbed to the genius of Team No Gayle, who only needed to double down twice to stay ahead of the game! They earned that $40!

Flight Fight Night brings trivia geeks to the yard, and we're like, it's better than yours! Damn right, it's better than yours. We could teach you, but then we'd have to sober up.
It was a great night for a few King Trivia virgins, and one beloved wooden team returning from a brief hiatus. Most everyone THORoughly struggled with Round 3, but did an excellent job figuring out cookies, pizza toppings, and general knowledge. Sneakily doubling down on populous African cities was what shot some of our players to the top, while chickening out on doubling down on hats and helmets may have cost a couple teams a fighting chance at placing for a gift card.
On the plus side, everyone -- even the new kids! -- remembered to turn in their pens for an extra bonus point (though I guess everyone remembering kinda defeats the purpose, huh?).
There's no better way to beat the rain than to cozy up with cocktails, brussel sprouts, and good old-fashioned trivia!
Everyone started off confident on the first two rounds with double-downs for days, but Sarah Silverman and Will Ferrell movies threw most everyone for a loop.
Legit Squad and Jarrott gave it their best for first times, falling just short of fellow newbs Clemson Big Macs, who did well "bigly" for being King Trivia virgins. Gel, The Implication, and Daddy Down were all over the board, but Thirsty Pretzels were back from a brief hiatus, ready to break their double-down curse. They went home with first prize winnings, a free appetizer, and some excellent practice for the Tournament of Champions next month!
