Twas the night before April's Fool day and we had five well established teams for merriment and spirits while mesmerizing us all with each other's wit.
Lots of successful of Double or Nothing. Well done. Smart moves.
Round 1 General Knowledge was 6 questions of inquistive queries of movie trivia,Munich Beer Festival, internal body parts, Academy Award winners and the national fictional creature of Scotland.
Round 2 picture round was a bevy of beautiful singers. Everyone knows Diana Ross but a mixed bag of answers for the other pics.
Round 3 was It Takes Two about famous pairings involving Eastern European countries,Shakespeare, DC super heroes and menu items.
Round 4 was Guess Who where almost everyone eventually guessed the correct well known male actor who studied marine biology, switched to architecture then landed up battling snakes on planes.
Round 5 was Find The Connection ( I think I will make the teams find the after Easter Eggs in the quiz room!) 10 questions with 9 clues to connect the dots. Clever round of a medley of clues.
Round 6 handout of 'Si Food' of aquatic animal names in Spanish to its English translation was a bit difficult for this French language student so Diego of the Implications got on the mic as a special guest. Well done Diego.
Round 7 tested the group's early US History. It was a fun night of 5 teams and 16 players.
Kudos for the teams who travel from Long Beach and Brea. Thank you. Safe travels.
We love Wednesdays at the Recess Room!! Great food, fun trivia fans, attentive staff and service plus intriquing King Trivia rounds. Life is good!
Packed house with 8 teams of a total of 24 players of various team sizes from two solo in-house crews- Home Team vs Team Home. Shades of MAD magazine's SpyVsSpy!! Kiet vs Roy. Alas our ringleader Roy wears many hats so he was busy with serving, etc. Kiet kept racking up the winning points with Double or Nothing wins! Yet Ava's Minons was close behind neck and neck like a horse race at the Santa Anita Racetrack! Go Blondie!! Great to have Lauren for one more week of college springbreak. Countdown to graduation. Brian, Yvonne and Veronica will hold down the fort till your awaited return.
The biggest team was Team Irish with an adult family of 7 for Connor's 24th bday. Great way to celebrate!
We were honoured to have Bob and Linda from Long Beach as Counter Intelligence team. They are avid multi night players.
First timers Smoke and Mirrors couldn't stay long as love was in the air from their cuddles sitting side by side...
Chuch of Quizentology was the dynamic father/daughter duo who need to utilize their Double or Nuthin' more.
The Implications - party of 5 this week were dealing with traffic so they made it by mid round one and they still finished 3rd. Well done.
Funny incorrect answer for the night for Round One were Cotton Candy is NOT part of definition for 'Matter can exist in solid, liquid, gas or what?'
Unison winning points for everyone knowing that mixed martial artist Conor McGregor is the founder of Proper 12 Irish Whiskey Company in Ireland. The 12 is the postal code for Crumlin where Conor as well as my parents plus dozens and dozens of my relatives are from.
Round 2 for female Country singers showed the music preference for most of the room. Thankfully they all knew Dolly Parton's picture! Round 4, 5, 6 went by with lots of correct answers and then came round 7....More NHL questions! The funny answers for 'active NHL teams without a Stanley Cup' got an answer of Canadian Bacon as well as real Americans watch football. (Did they mean futbol which is really soccer? Whose on first?)
Again my royal trivia subjects, thank you for treating me like a queen with laughter and your enthusiastic participation to clap and cheer each other's wins as well as sing Happy Birthday to a young lad. Stellar night. Till Wednesday! Stay curious!

Happy St. Patrick's Night 2021. Last year bartenders were closing up shop early due to Covid lockdown on this Saintly holiday of an Irish Immigrant from Britain who was a young slave as an endured shepherd who later escaped and returned as a priest to chase the snakes out of Ireland.
We have no snakes to deal with on the memorial anniversary of Saint Patrick, we have trivia about Ireland and Canada in Round 7 to answer! As a Toronto born Irish immigrant myself, these questions are right in my ballpark!
Round 1 was 6 questions about TV trivia, famous chef, virtual reality, and Back to the Future trivia.
Round 2 was the picture round where almost everyone did well. Round 3 with the Patty Melt round was 6 questions about Ireland or Irish things. My favourite question was "The only Irish actor to play James Bond" is also the only actor I have ever met in the women's bathroom at the LA Sports Arena during a Bruce Springsteen concert. (He was waiting for his wife.) We were all alone and our eyes awkwardly glanced at each other. I told him 'This is the women's bathroom. Is everything ok?' He said he was waiting for his wife.
Round 4 of Guess Where instead of Guess Who was a bit tougher than some of the veteran teams have experienced.
Round 5 Find The Connection for 10 questions had two lucky teams who went for Double or Nothing. Well done to Home Team and Ava's Minions.
Round 6 with the O'ccupation hand out was a crowd please with Home Team & Ava's Minions getting the Double or Nothing advantage again! Congratulations to trivia newbies, my friends, Jedi & Linda of the Lucky Clovers who looked so festive for this night of the wearing of the green.
Round 7 was a curve ball....we changed from the Irish to the Canadians! A bit tricky but these are inquisitive walking encyclopedias who have fun with us every Wednesday night at the Recess Room!
Thank you to Roy, Samantha, Joe, Thomas, Jorge and the kitchen staff for great hospitality, music, drinks and food. Wonderful ambiance. A memorable St. Patrick's night for this Dubliners' Daughter.
